HeaT AND BLISTERED LEFT FOOT , TOOK ITS TOLL ON ME , WAS ON FOR A SUB 3.20 AT HALF WAY POINT , BUT GOD THAT WAS TOUGH 2ND HALF TODAY
A scorcher! Very sunburnt.
First Marathon, hot day, ran as hoped, pleased with time.
Roasty McToasty - I'm just not built for those temperatures...
DNF - felt ill at 10 miles - threw in the towel at 12
VERY hot. But felt great!! Stopped for c 1 minute for a loo break.
Did Whisky Stramash the DAY BEFORE - aaargh!
Prof Disco Dean
very even paced on quite a hot day in Scotland
Race was very good. My performance, less so. And it was hot, again.
absolutely no idea how long it will take me - just depends on the race conditions. my times this year have been gradually coming down so hoping that this will show in the marathon time. Done Edinburgh twice in 5 hours.
al d 46
Crashed and burned at 21.4 miles, next 4 miles in 53 minutes. Don't stop again in a race ever.
5 days after - shin splints left leg pretty bad sore walking
Taking a pessimistic prediction as all I want to do is get round.
really pleased with this, steady 7:30's all the way to 17 miles (a hip injury picked up earlier in the race caused me to walk on a number of occasions) but picked it up for a final mile 7:18.
Overall, with an injury and in the hot conditions a very good run
Tick Tock Tim
Actual time was 4.01.31.
Actual time was 6.11.32
No training so ran/walked it. Fatigued at mile 22 due to the length of time on my feet. would love to train properly and do this again. Great course. Great people.
Hot day, still had chest infection & lack of training in last 6 weeks meant I knew I had to take it easy. Took regular walk breaks early on through the water stations which I beleive helped with the latter miles. 18-22 was tough & chest hurting with breathing, quads & hams starting to give me a little grief. Last 3 were comfortable but very slow pace. Support all around the course was amazing, hosepipes were very nice & lots of sweets/drinks being handed out.
Next up Liverpool & hopefully fitter. 4 hr will be tough, 4:30 is doable.
It was HOT!
After walking quite a bit of the second half of London I wanted to do another and run all of it, plus beat my previous target time of 5 hours.
London 1st Half - 2h26
London 2nd Half - 3h01
Beat the 5 hours but couldn't mainatin 10 min mile in the heat. Beta PB by over 30 mins so happy with that.
Full Time: 04:55:59
10k split: 01:02:10
Half marathon: 02:12:05
30k split: 03:20:15
Overall finish position: 6151
Sorry about this. Was really hot and I set off a bit too quickly. Was in danger of not finishing at one bit.
Eeeeeeek! I'm in! Delighted with result!
Season best, nearly 2 mins faster than I ran in Rotterdam last month. Hot today! New finish much better than last year.
V pleased with time as PB
Hot day and had had recent virus so not much running preceding 3 weeks so took it steady and just kept going
Aimed for 3.30 and got to halfway in 1.42, but then blew up massively in the second half and jogged/walked the last ten miles.
Hot day, godo course, well organised - suitably sunburt afterwards.
Felt great until about 18 but then the heat, the sun and the general marathoness got to me. Legs turned to treacle, feet turned to cement, head turned to mush. Did well not to walk but must have been passed by 500 people in the last 5 miles.
Totally shocked myself with time as first ever marathon and hadn't been training for a time. Never hit 'the wall' but kept waiting for it to happen! Loved the day. Got the bug. Fingers crossed for London place. Just made best for age.
Fabulously hot today, my kind of running weather. Really enjoyed the course and the support was great. Knocked 3 minutes of my time so this was a PB today.
Not ready to race so just ran it untapered (did a large intervals session on Tuesday and a 10k tempo on Thursday) as a long run with a quality section at the end. Prepared for the heat by taking the camelbak and tried gels for the first time which went well and will be a future addition to my marathon races.
First 16 miles easy (7.22/mile) then steady for the last 10.2 (6.40/mile) for a 3.05.22 finish. Happy with that as basically just ran to percieved effort which I reckoned before hand would have been more like 7.45s and 6.50s. Meant I finished 10 minutes early though and accidently an SB in the process. Body handled it just like the hard trainnig run it was, and so no need for recovery. Continue with full training
Great day out and brilliant to finally enjoy a marathon all the way through for once
Hellish hot, trainers worn out and knee pain from 15 and stopped me at 20 miles
My first full marathon. Ridiculously hot day and I struggled with the heat but delighted I finished. On the day I was disappointed with my time but now I'm pretty pleased with the overall effort. 2013? Maybe
