About The Club

Swinton Running Club is based at Swinton Football Club on Barton Rd, behind the Farmers Arms Pub off Manchester Rd, Swinton

Founded in 1976 as Swinton Jog Fit Club the club is small but perfectly formed! With around 110 members of which 30-40 regularly run with the club on either (or both) a Monday & Wednesday night from the Club & a local track.

The club is affiliated to England Athletics for Road, Fell and Cross Country running.

Joining us you can be part of a friendly informal running club with members from joggers to quick road runners to fell runners - all enjoying taking part in a sport that provides the chance for everyone to find the event that suits them best.

We regularly compete in local races at all age and ability levels. Some of us just come down to the club to run and don't want to enter races but like to train with like minded people and enjoy the social side of being with a club (we do have a bar !!!).

We currently hold a number of our own races each year including the new Swinton 10 Mile Road Race (replacing the Swinton Half Marathon) and the 5.25 mile Women only run. We encourage non-running members to join us and find that they contribute in many ways to the club.

Club Sessions

Monday
Summer Months: 7.30 pm Steady run out from club, various groups running between 3-6 miles on mix of road & trail. Pace between 7.45min miles and 10+ min miles. Also track sessions (every monday) at Cleaveleys Track (home of Salford Mets) at a tad faster pace!

Winter Months: As above from club but track alternate weeks with Hill session leaving from club.

A quieter night with groups not always leaving from the same point. Beginners Welcome anytime!
Wednesday
All Year Round: 7.30 pm Steady run out from club, various groups running between 3/6/8/10 miles on mix of road & trail where possible. Pace groups between 7 min miles and 10+ min miles.

A busier evening with a few pints afterwards for those whose bodies are not temples! Beginners Welcome anytime!
