I am fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust

I always said I would never run a marathon, much as I love running, it is just too far. However, my boss lost someone dear to her to cancer a couple of years ago at far too young an age. As a result the Halle made a link to the Teenage Cancer Trust - and the task of running the London Marathon in 2017 was delegated to me.

How do you pick yourself up when you need to?
I go for a run :) I check in with the 700ers - they can always cheer me up.

What’s the best bit of advice that you would give to new runners, bikers and swimmers?
One bad run does not mean it's not for you. I don't know much about bikes - carry a spare inner tube? Swimming is great therapy for sore runners' legs :)

About Me

:) I love running, it makes me very happy and I'd like to get a bit better at it. 2017 was all about - the Tour of Merseyside - 6 races, 7 days, 52 miles. Thrilled to win my age category. In 2016 I completed my Coach in Running Fitness qualification - primarily devoted to Resolution Runners, a group for beginner runners that I started up locally in 2015. I am also still coaching at Warrington's Spectrum Striders. When not running I work in arts' fundraising - for Manchester's Halle Orchestra. OH - aka Mr AL also runs (but not as far ;) ) Leaflet (21) was recruited to the Resolution Runners last year, and even Twiglet (23) has been known to don running shoes...2018 is dominated by VLM: training, injuring, running and recovering from...
