Fee is back
Only 3 of us in the class this evening which ended up making for an extra special class We spent a good 15 minutes breaking down chaturanga and working on that and then tried a side arm balance. Really loved every minute of this. I've missed Fee Namaste x

Work and life made it look like there would be no time for any physical exercise today other than the upcoming class with Fee but the I realised that I had just enough time sneak this in and watch the final episode of One Day so that is what I did.

The original plan for this evening was the second in the series of yoga/soundbaths but I woke in the night with a headache and general feeling of bleurgh that I cannot shift and I doubt 45 minutes of Belinda and her Bing Bongs is going to help.
I wanted to do some kind of movement though so did a super gentle spin and watched the last part of a true crime documentary about cybercrime on Netflix (called Can I Tell You a Secret) Still feel crap, though, so am going to chill now in the hope that I wake up tomorrow ready to run as work and life has stopped me since last Saturday and I want to run Split Summary === 1) 1m - 3:33(3:33/m) 124/128rpm 2) 1m - 3:06(3:06/m) 125/130rpm 3) 1m - 3:08(3:08/m) 126/128rpm 4) 1m - 3:18(3:18/m) 127/132rpm 5) 1m - 3:19(3:19/m) 126/128rpm 6) 1m - 3:25(3:25/m) 126/130rpm 7) 1m - 3:29(3:29/m) 126/132rpm 8) 1m - 3:26(3:26/m) 126/128rpm 9) 1m - 3:31(3:31/m) 126/128rpm 10) 1m - 3:32(3:32/m) 126/130rpm 11) 1m - 3:35(3:35/m) 125/128rpm 12) 1m - 3:37(3:37/m) 125/128rpm 13) 1m - 3:24(3:24/m) 125/130rpm 14) 1m - 3:21(3:21/m) 126/130rpm 15) 0.67m - 2:25(3:38/m) 126/132rpm 23rd Feb 2024, 6:10pm

F*ck me!
The BBC said "occasional light showers" B*llocks, BBC, you lying b*stards. It was fine until about mile 3 as I climbed up onto the Downs then all hell broke loose and the hail began. When the hail eventually stopped, the heavy rain started and, apart from maybe 10 minutes in the middle and then the drop down into Eastbourne, it didn't stop. Never ending mud and the ground just saturated and sodden even in places that normally drain well. Pretty much impossible to run. I was soaked and freezing. I had taken light gloves which were wet through so I put them in my pocket. Just before 12 miles I had a wild wee and getting my wet leggings up over my red raw arse with freezing hands was...interesting. About half a mile later, I tripped and hit the deck really hard. Stopped my Garmin, carefully stood up and checked the damage. Right arm and elbow were very painful, I was covered head to toe in mud, and my right hand was bleeding (surprisingly bright and pretty red). I had nothing to stop the bleeding so ended up wrapping one of my cold, wet gloves round it (did the trick!) Set off again. Walking and crying then a gentle jog. Thought about looking for a bus at Alfriston but decided it would take as long as keeping going so told myself "I'm a machine" and cracked on. Alfriston to home was mostly walked as running was impossible with the mud. When I got in, my hands were so cold it took me the best part of ten minutes to get my shoes off, then I stood in the shower trying to get warm and crying because I was so cold. Took ages to stop shivering. My body is bruised from the fall and red raw from the rain and cold. I'm tired. But I am so glad I went out (had considered not bothering) and that I kept moving. And I'm proud of myself. I'm a machine. I had planned a post work run but a combination of work (have just been handed another project so things are only going to get worse) and the fact that I feel super dicky and can't be too far from a loo, meant I had to scrap the run and do a short turbo instead.
Chasing Dreams, Season 2, Episode 7 (final episode) Hoping the rest of season 3 will be released soon. Am finding these inspirational especially at a time when my running is not what I want it to be. Yoga with Fee
Only three of us again which was nice. Several things I couldn't do (eg dolphin) because my right arm is so badly bruised from the fall on Saturday but Fee is really good at giving alternatives that give similar strength/flexibility gains. Managed a good, strong crow for the first time in a while. First go at a version of Astavakrasana with blocks and actually managed it (very wobbly but with and both legs off the ground) on one side. Nowhere near on the other but exciting anyway. I love that moment when you realise that you can actually do something if you just at least try and then persevere. Lovely evening as always. Worth getting soaked on the way there and back. Namaste x 28th Feb 2024, 9:20pm

Work crapped all over my running mojo today. I came very close to not doing this and thus giving up on making my goal for the Centurion virtual run.
But I forced myself out the door an hour later than planned (work), stuck my music on, and genuinely enjoyed running in the rain. Anatomy of a Fall (excellent film)
Had left myself with 23 miles to do today if I wanted to complete the Centurion virtual challenge. Was waiting for the weather to clear but got bored of waiting and decided that I really didn't care about getting a medal or whatever nor did I want to schlep through mud again today. I wanted to be proactive. So I chose film I really wanted to see that was a decent length, found a Zwift route that I hadn't completed (Bigger Loop in Watopia) with some hills in it and off I went. FWFG - new teacher on the app - Tyler
Yoga for Desk Jobs Really thought Tyler was going to annoy me but was pleasantly surprised. Interesting cues on familiar poses and, despite a tendency to say "reachy reachy" a bit much, he did say some funny things, "fix your gaze out ahead (pause) there's hope out there" and I properly laughed out loud at "wave your hands in the air (pause) like you just don't care" 30 minutes flew by. Lovely savasana at the end where he was just silent. And especially lovely to do this with afternoon sunshine streaming through the window. Namaste x 3rd Mar 2024, 4:58pm

Bit bored with my usual route and today at work has been an arse so was just happy to get out and about and bimble about with no set route and no music.
It was a pleasant enough run but ruined right near the end. I stopped by the cat cafe as usual to check out the kitties and a guy standing to one side said "Get away from my cats" I thought he was joking so I smiled and said, "Oh they're all yours, are they?" He then shoved himself between me and the cafe windows and said "I'm serious. Get away from my fucking cats" I took a step back and he started growling and hissing and baring his teeth at me. Then yowled like a cat. I said "OK then" and started to jog on. He kept shouting after me "Go on, run away, I can run faster than you. I'm a cat. I will catch you and fucking tear your apart" So that was nice Split Summary === 1) 1mi - 11:18(11:18/mi) 85cal 5.31/6.35mph 2) 1mi - 9:55(9:55/mi) 88cal 6.05/7.06mph 3) 1mi - 9:55(9:55/mi) 87cal 6.05/6.64mph 4) 1mi - 10:32(10:32/mi) 83cal 5.7/7.35mph 5) 1mi - 10:30(10:30/mi) 87cal 5.71/6.95mph 6) 0.13mi - 1:27(10:50/mi) 11cal 5.54/5.99mph 4th Mar 2024, 6:12pm

Physio exercises
Having to add lots of different weights to a bag to make up bigger weights Single leg bridge - 12 each leg x 3 (12.5kg weight - can increase next time) Goblet squat - 12 x 3 (12kg weight) Something that doesn't have a name that I know of but I am calling "twisted band leg side and back" - 12 each leg with orange band x 3 Lunges - 3 x 12 each leg with 2.5kg weight which was way too light. Will increase next time.
Having to add this manually
Did an hour or so on the bike watching the last half of The Imitation Game (a most excellent film that I started last night) When the film finished I went back to Zwift to check how far I'd done and discovered that Zwift lost bluetooth connection after 23 minutes Some what annoying but hey ho. At least I got some movement in. Had planned a run but work and a neighbour who needed help got in the way. 5th Mar 2024, 6:05pm

MFML - Morning Mojo 1 with Lucy McCarthy
Lucy seems nice. She's fancy enough to have a Gwen Stefani type mic. Packs a lot into 15 minutes and felt suitably mojo-d at the end. Ideal short practice for when I'm short on time because I got stuck in an especially nice duvet/Bonnie entanglement and there was warmth and purring. Namaste x 5th Mar 2024, 7:40am

Yoga with Fee
A few more folk this week and a couple of newbies which was nice. Work crapped over both my planned run and my planned Zwift today and, for a while, it looked like I wouldn't make it to yoga class, so I arrived at the studio somewhat grumpy. Left much happier. Now I just need to resists the feeling that I should go back to work for a couple of hours. Namaste x 6th Mar 2024, 7:56pm

Really grateful even for a short jog this evening as it looked like I wouldn't get out at all at one point. Zwift scuppered but no matter. I have done what I had time for.
The extra workload and extra people I now have to interact with might mean I have to reassess my working hours to try to box clever but we shall see. To be honest, I feel like I am not training in any consistent and/or meaningful way (combination of work and the hammie rehab) but am trying to relax and just accept that this is how things are for now. It was a lovely evening though a cold wind on the seafront. Gutted that I wasn't able to get out at 4 when I should have finished work. I had plans for a trip to Beachy to watch the sunset. Well it looks like SDW50 is off
Today was supposed to be Hassocks to home (30+ miles) as a test of the hammies and knees. Both failed and I gave in at Southease. Things weren’t helped by an “interesting” tummy bug of some kind. Haven’t had to poop and puke in the woods for ages. Anyway I’m now at Lewes having missed my connection by 8 seconds and waiting for a delayed train so I’m going to be here being glum and fed up for a while.
