9Dart A fortnight in Corfu arriving back 8am the day before took the pre-race taper to the extreme! As such am amazed and really chuffed with the time. Got in a few runs whilst away but nothing of note. Nervous on day, but once into stride after the first few km of dodging and weaving felt great, as evidenced by a negative split (1st 5km - 20m33s). As for race, well organised and well supported. Only gripe is need to avoid bottleneck at start nr Portland St / Chepstow St. Need to check the video now and see if am on telly?! AJFleming Perfect conditions for me, although the standing around at the start made for an uncomfortable first few hundred metres. Also - what on earth was the point of the dude on the platform doing the warmup? Where I was standing - close to the start of the Unaffiliated 57:24 57:24 1:00:00 57:24 46.54

APC My time had this at 41.56 which would (strangely enough) equal my PB which is pleasing considering the usual crowds and occaisional joggers & walkers!

However as this is chip timed I gues I have little choice but to accept the official time.

This event as good as any event of this size can be, with size comes compromises. Well organised and good support from loads & loads of spectators. Unaffiliated 39:44 39:44 42:01 65.50

bevunit Got a PB by a 20 or so seconds. Shouldn't really have expected any quicker since I hadn't put the training in. The race was well organised with a good atmosphere. Got stuck in a big traffic jam getting out of the city which wasn't ideal but otherwise a good day. :-) Wrecsam Tri 52:06 54:58 58:21 51.99

UPDATE:
Fantastic atmosphere all the way round with bands etc to keep the spirits up. Was great to see Obigone during the race. The ankle held out to the finish - just, though it will smart in the morning!

Jocky Just outside last year's time, but much more crowded at start this time, lots of people in wrong wave, evident from listening to chat before start. However this is to be expected in this type of mass race. Wel,l organised, but preferred last yaer's route out of Manchester.
Overall can't grumble as have not trained much in last few weeks since London, due to chest infection.
Saw girl in fetch vest on other side of road in one of later waves as I was on way back towards the finish, it was same girl on telly coming in behind the people bing interviewed. Swinton Running Club 38:52 38:59 40:30 69.50

Micksta Great event and occastion, shame about the weather though, made things a little slippery especially for ASICS wearers like myself! Got held up badly over the first 1k, so would have got under 37mins if I had a better start, enjoyed myself though and good to meet some other FETCH Members! Obigone Was looking for another sub 50mins but with my gammy knee I'll be happy just to get round! **UPDATE** Well suprised myself with a 47:58! Glad to get round with no pain from my knee! Would possibly have threatend my P.B. if not for having to bob and weave through the field! Great to be part of a really big race, but why do people insist on putting themselves in the wrong wave!:-( Some of the runners we passed were walking before 1km!!! Met Micksta before the race, and ganbaru KATATSUMURI during(outside Old Trafford), nice guys! All in all a good day!! Stockport Harriers & AC 40:21 46:58 50:00 47:58 61.09
Pink Shoes Loved it!! My first ever race. I ran with my husband who paced himself against me for the first 5K, i think this helped me improve my predicted time.

It was a rainy day which helped keep me cool. I was racing for charity therefore wearing the charity tee-shirt which was a mistake as it was very heavy and cumbersome when wet.

Quite a flat race which was good for improving my confidence as i got round the whole 10K without having to stop for a breather :) Unaffiliated 55:35 57:56 1:15:00 57:56 54.63

Should Av Run Quicker Did this in 2005 in exactly the same time. Flat course but don't get caught up in the middle of the pack. Get to the start earlier to get a good place. Which I didn't. Stockport Harriers & AC 35:27 38:54 38:54 71.25
Stevie B Aiming for sub-45 but I've been a bit hit and miss with training lately and I seem to weaken at longer distances. Will beat Ash though.

Very wet and very crowded (I'm not used to that many people) despite the wave system. Despite that felt pretty good throughout and felt fine keeping my water on me (I changed an empty bottle for a full one at the water station manned by Army Cadets). When someone tried to overtake my near the end I sped up... and up till at a sprint. The clock time was about 43 and half minutes but the SMS service made it 41:10. I agree with AJ about the warm-up guy. No-one was interested in him anyway. Saw some fetchites; someone wearing the shirt with someone who might have been one with him in my wave (Orange) and a woman in another wave at the 2/8 Km point.
Passed Gordon Burns of NW Tonight pretty early on. Saw Eric Pollard and other Emmerdale crew at the end. I think they beat me though. Unaffiliated 38:34 41:10 45:00 41:10 65.45
