amorts Started behind around 3,000 runners due to silly staggered start. Even Wonderwomen, a guy with a surf board and the pantomime horse started ahead of me on this beautiful day in Bath. Staggered start helped no one and within 2 mins of clear road we reached the back of the pack and chaos ensued. The pavements were taken to in an attempt to maintain a decent pace. Even after the 1st lap of 10 km I was still passing slower runners. 2nd lap was better as the crowds evened out. Was hoping to get close to a pb so hard to say how much time I lost in the crowds. My guess based upon prev form is anything between 2-5 minutes. Unaffiliated 1:24:15 1:30:23 1:30:23 64.60

Little Giant Pros:
great scenery, a lot of spectators throughout the course, great goody bags, accessible from London on the race day, good pavement throughout the course

Cons:
They prepared lots of portaloos in the runners' village but we weren't using them in a clever way. Most people rushed to the ones inside the runners' village so I had to queue up for 30mins. But just a few steps out of the village, there were plenty of loos with much less people waiting.
The race started 30min late due to traffic congestion or something. Well, it's not organizer's fault. If you're running this one next year, make sure you secure enough time before you board your train home.

Wirzel Hoping to beat my PB this time, was only 22 seconds away at Burnham on sea in October when I hadn't even targeted that race, just did it off the back of training for the Bristol half, trainings been going reasonably well, got a bit of a stiff neck but hoping that shouldn't hinder me. First half of the race went ok, although I didn't really find it that easy, from then on it just went downhill, legs felt like lead. Not really sure what went wrong, all I can think is that I haven't put in enough miles in at a faster pace to feel comfortable. Unaffiliated 1:34:30 1:38:30 1:34:00 1:38:30 61.85

YoungWallace lovely city - super support. flat as a pancake but far far too busy to be a 2 lap race - and the 30 minute delay to the start was laughable. shame i had to start in the 1:45 bracket due to entry criterion last year (the marshals wouldnt let anyone in the sub 1:45 area except some bloke with a surfboard who took 2 hours). Really slow first 2 miles in heavy traffic ruined the race for me.

wont be running in this super city again as i dont think the organisers will learn. enjoyed the run on a super cloudless day and the crowd were really helpful all the way round.

felt a bit jaded after a mid-week combo of a cold and unhealthiness following a half last weekend. need to get back to putting in some more training before I attempt another half marathon. Garscube Harriers 1:29:01 1:29:01 1:34:36 61.72
