stonking PB :-D
I'd love to beat 2 hours, but it's a hope rather than an expectation. Although the course isn't flat, I would definitely hope to PB. -- And I did PB, convincingly, but missed the 2 hours. It was a good run, though, and I really couldn't have gone faster.
As my post chest infection lungs struggled at near PB pace at the Frostbite last week (5 miles) I'm going to take it easy and treat this as a LSR with drink stations, enjoy the race and not put myself under any pressure :-). POST RACE - 2:07:06 - very pleased. Found this an easy pace and managed lots of talking on the way round to random people. Looking good for the future!
At one or two points today I didn't think I was going to go sub 2 - but very happy that I stucj with it and got there
Target race! sub 9 mm required. Update 27/10 thigh strain has put stop to pb attempt just hoping for a good time. Went for sub 2 despite injury and was pleased until it decided enough at 8.5 miles and then stready jog in for a reasonable time
Struggled with tired legs and niggly shin for the first 10 miles, and only gave it some for the last 5K when I realised that despite a well below par run so far, I could still make sub 1:40 if I went for it. A sub 22 minute effort from 10-13.1 did the trick, especially a 6:40 final mile. Hurty! 28th lady out of 365, 6th FS. But still a gorgeous day and a gorgeous race, even if I was a bit rubbish...
Based on performance at Stowmarket Seven this weekend, I decided I'm gonna do St Neot's as a training run and take the pressure off me and avoid the disappointment every time I race since being injured. I guess, I'm expecting too much to get back to my form from earlier this year so quickly after reduced training from 8 months of injury! So I'll be there to run to enjoy the run and see my friends PB! :0)
UPDATE: perfect day for running, perfect organisation, lovely marshalls and lovely tech t-shirt again. Decided (definitely) at 2 miles to follow original plan of using this as a training run and take it easy. It made for a lovely run. My racing head has really just not been right since Edinburgh mara, and the injury over the last months from it and the mara training. Saw M run a SB which she deserved though. Very pleased for her. There's always next year for me to try for that sub 1:45! :0) Glad I've done it and just Luton Relay to do now and then no more races till late next year!!
Great race - quite hilly!
First time doing this and will be forth half in four months, got my target time for this year so will be pacing a club member around for her to get a PB.
Great race and HeyJude got her PB very pleased for her !
2nd best HM time - over 3 mins improvement on last year's time on the same course, so quite happy with that. Right hip started to really hurt between miles 9 and 10, and it felt like more that just the usual tiredness and strain from making an effort. It's OK now, but hope I haven't done any damage.
Slower than I hoped but who cares, a gorgeous race and a fab t-shirt at the end that I can actually run in. Great to see so many fetchies there too
A good race. Nice shirt at the end. I wish they would do an XXL though.
Not at all bad considering the hangover from a college reunion dinner the night before! My aim for the race was to get round without puking, but actually managed my 3rd fastest HM! I wish I had taken the race a bit more seriously and abstained from drinking, like Vindicatordid, I could have done a serious PB attempt. Ah well, there is always the next one. Nice to run bits of the race with KinkyS and Flanker.
A PW - fell behind intended schedule by mile 3 so lost interest in trying for a PB. Ran fairly steadily rest of way on a good day to be out. Organisation very good as usual, thanks Riverside
Lets see if I can match last years time...
This was my first outing at St Neots and due to my working life taking a huge detour to Amsterdam I wasn't expecting to run a good race due to the lack of training and hills here in The Netherlands. However I was most pleased with a 1:54;59 and a PB to boot. Having started to run again later in life my PB goal is only 1:45/50 and hopefully it is not tooooo far off
A P.B well pleased nice course with a few hills
really enjoyed this course last year , back for more. update; really is a cracking race. good solid time , with a nice push last 3 miles.sorry koughkandi, you need to learn to read
Didn't have a great deal of 'unph'...still getting over my food poisoning.
Brilliant run paced by Swerver to give me a great PB
Struggled today, went off to fast me thinks.
Come on, surely I can do 2 mins off my PB!
Yay... did 3.5 mins off PB, am v v pleased. Think I raced it more like a 10 miler than a 13 as my last 3 were quite slow due to the previous hills which were a bit tough! But it's always good when you're gradually overtaking people for most of the race.... whoop!
Great event, cant fault it really. Time not as good as I would have liked, found the second half hard work. Seemed much more undulating than I remembered. Still, I won the V50 again and got a couple of bottles of wine for my efforts.
Just got in via the waiting list. I'm not sure how it will go...I have done the long runs so should be able to PB.
Treating this as a long training run. It will be the longest I've run since early August '08. Around 2hrs would be good. Post race: Groovy under 2hrs. This is the longest I've run in 15 months. With my flu bug last month I had serious doubts about doing this one. Ran with KazzaF for the majority of it and enjoyed the company. Really encouraging marshalls. A good way to celebrate DD 6 month birthday.
Really not great, had to work really hard in the first half, got better in the second half with small negative split. Cramp in last couple of miles slowed me up a bit, but was much less severe than last time.
Need a break now! Hamstring very sore afterwards
The small matter of 7 miles to do before it even starts suggests no PB's today.
The most perfect race of my life. 1st male team.
Once a Sprinter ...
348 of 901. Neg split 53.14 / 51.00. Target was only 1.48 so very pleased. Will get back into 1.30s before too long
Daddy long legs
What a fab race - well organised, great scenery, plenty of support. Suffered after the hill at 9 miles, but held on for a PB by 45s
Not half mara fit, really, but reasonably confident I can PB anyway. Note the word reasonably. This does not mean definitely.
33rd half. 18th sub 85
Set off too fact, sub 8 min miling, and died in second half
Fast start then struggled between 4-6m before gritting teeth and hanging on in there to work hard over last 2 miles to finally break 90mins for the first time...yippee.
my 1st half marathon- ok i wonder if I could have gone faster but i had never ran more than 10 miles so was terrified of burning out! I tried not to go faster than a 10 minute mile for the 1st 7 miles- after half way i had an energy gel and my ipod died but luckily i had a new blackberry zipped into back of my leggings- i was worried about cold hahaha shouldnt have but anyway i invested in a nice nike running hat and gloves and full length leggings!
loved it and was pleased with time!!! roll on next year!
