worked out that six loops including 'The Grind' roughly equals up one Fusedale and down to Haweswater - but messed about for too long trying and failing, to find an alternative route to the bottom of 'the hole' that didn't involved a 20 foot vertical slide on wet grass between brambles - planted a few more blue circles though. Mum's gardening, lots of weeding and some hacking back. dug out the roots of the acacia that died over winter and cut damaged and unhealthy looking plum tree branch - two lots of an hour or so with a lovely Fitzwilliam lunch in the middle
