Will be going for it... how fast I do not know..... Race Report Gosport 1/2
Full race service today, collect by Rach and Gobi, and asked as to wether i would like to be paced at 6:40 pace ie 1:27:30.... mmmmm Okay then lets give this a bash..... But Oh dear... the wheels came off the bus well and truley, but not until 12.9m..................
Parking was an event....... so off to the start in blustery conditions but not too cold.... I'll say now the course was a new route and was not the best a chicane in the first 200m onto a cyclypath didnt help, but twice round the airfiled was ok.... Gob set off and stayed about 5 paces in front of me and Rach on my shoulder, with a constant average of 6:37 being shout out as well as various expletives like get your **** moving and get up here from the quiet one...... moved through the field as we went, 9m was particuarly hard as we went into the wind, at this point I could only grunt and not speak.......... knew we were on the money, but knew I was tired, but thanks to the dream team, was paced nicely till the wheels came off at 12.9m, the body just gave up, legs went and was a serious struggle to carry on running, but did JUST and crossed the line in 1:27:09 and a new 102 sec pb.
Nothing was left out there on the course, everything given, and totally knackered now, Thanks to Rach and Gobi, it was strange to be paced, as normally would look to other runners and try and pick them off, but running in this conrolled state felt completely different, still bliddy hard work mind you.
Splits are from auto lap and differ a little from as some markers were out etc....
6:39, 6:34, 6:45, 6:37, 6:47, 6:44, 6:35, 6;34, 6:44, 6:41, 6:41, 6:33, 6:41, 0:42.
2 weeks post 150mile race
Beat Zayne for first time
doing this as a slow training run
The race went perfectly, another 2 mins off my PB!! New course, but just as fast as the old one. Very well marshalled. Only slight grumble would be that the walk to the start took longer than anticipated as the path was narrow and muddy and some people missed the start. Prizes for 5th lady and 1st team too.
A mostly boring course but allows you to get in the zone to concentrate on racing. Good to see club mates running in the opposite direction and cheering me on, this gave me a boost. The start was a bit congested and I didn't like the final 30m up the grass hill. The marshalls were excellent, cheering everyone on.
felt cramp in ham strings from the start. relaay struggled so pleased with time
This new route was dull and boring. Also lots of bottle necks. Not one for the racing snobs .
Another pb - and under 1:30 at last!
A bit congested at the start, 30 secs outside of a pb at the end! Next time!
Hoping to shave a few seconds off the PB..will wait to see what the new course is like, however, before committing myself!
New route, terrible start and very boring
1:45 - 1:43 ish i hope?? report - got there in plenty of time and had trouble parking. then had to queue for a parking ticket - 25 mins! i wasn't the only one waiting either. ran half a mile or so to the start but needed the loo desperately - if i didn't go there was going to be an accident! made it to within sight of the start and the horn went so i missed the start and pushed in. the first 2 miles or so was very badly congested along a cycle path (?!!). great idea to have so many people on a little path! couldn't get into my pace untill about 3-4 miles and then tried to make up for missed time. not sure if my time is official but i still ran the distance. ok, i had a bad start but i didn't really enjoy this race. too many turns in and around the airfield and the same buildings kept going past. excellent marshalls though but could do with another drinks station. unless they change the route i don't think i'll run this next year. update - official time 1:39:59 slower than the 1:37 that i had but a pb is a pb.
Disaster of a race. Been suffering from a throat/ sinus infection for the last 2 weeks and not run much in the last month or 2. Got held up at the start for about half a mile before I could open up. Tried to catch up lost too early and paid for it. Went through 10k in 44.30 but was already suffering with tight painful calves. Pretty much walked/jogged my way in from there. Didn't enjoy the course much, very dull and open to the elements and no goody bag I will try and regain my fitness now. Not had a very enjoyable week with a few other things going on.
Sheriff of Lentune
Wa Hay a new PB!!!..... but on a course as dull as ditchwater !
Toofie! Dog poo! Sugar rush!
Hoping to go sub 75
had a good run, started well and ran in a group untill a fast mile at mile 7 and suffered a little for the next 2 miles, recovered and came strong at the last 2.5 miles.felt really good so a worthy PB.
1st half mara, new route that passes 50m from my door, to tempting to miss, will use it as a long training run.UPDATE: enjoyed it, just went a steady pace and had a chat along the way... great long Sun run along my usual route with 1200+ runners...
Got under my target of 1.50 in my second HM so pleased with that.
Paced RFJ round to a new PB. Plan was 1:27:30. We smashed that
Paced RFJ with Rach SORTED
Bit crowded at the start & a boring but very flat route. PB by 4 minutes.
Good weather, though a touch windy at times. Congested start. Still had a little of Snowdonia in legs, but ran well.
10'58(141), 9'26(157), 9'35(160), 9'22(161), 9'31(159)
9'45(160), 10'01(158), 9'40(160), 9'43(160), 10'08(160)
9'55(160), 10'00(159), 9'30(161), 2'08(168)
Did not pace myself at all well. Need to start thinking about that now. Came across the 11mile marker and realised I was not tired or hadn't pushed myself enough!!
Good first half marathon though!!
