This event is listed on these dates:
Sick at mile 12 and had to run-walk the remainder of the race.
Gave 3:30 a go expecting to blow up a bit. well pleased.
My first marathon!! Apart from finishing no real goals, will update as training progresses ***UPDATE*** I loved it!! Ok slow, but I enjoyed myself immensely and am now looking for the next marathon.....
Depends on how well FLM goes, if it goes well ill be there :D
Marathon virgin..... But the cherry is ripening nicely and will be ready for plucking come October
Thank you so much E! I couldn't have done it without you. X
looking forward to this one, my third marathon..last one in Mallorca so this one will be cooler, really want to do under 4.30..believe its a flat course!!
A run whilst on holiday celebrating second wedding anniversary. This to bag my Irish marathon.
Sadly, due to a head cold I was not fit to race this marathon. Happily, I ran the whole distance with the wife.
Note right ITB niggled from 19 onwards. Flat course maybe?
Great marathon, started too fast and couldn't maintain pace - still a PB
Mixed emotions. Huge PB however 22 seconds outside that elusive sub 3 hour!! Paced it great, unfortunately the garmin clocked it at 26.5 miles so I was caught out at the end as I thought I was on for a sub 3. Could not have done much more. Great atmoshpere hugely enjoyable.
Followed the sub 3 pacers but took about 5 miles before I started to feel good. After 12 miles I felt great and decided to kick on,felt good till about 23 miles when I started to tire a bit but managed to keep the pace up and was carried to the finish by the great support and attmosphere.14 mins pb so well chuffed!!
too fast at start. died towards the end struggled after half way. toook 6 gels and also jelly babies. HAD NOT PREPARED ENOUGH
Can't wait! Running a marathon in my home city will be a blast.
Normal marathon time again ,will have to stick to under 20 miles to get a half decent time Great race day.
Not bad for no training. Three half marathons and a couple of 5M and 3milers. I'm a happy Running Caz!!!
Despite some parts of Dublin having a bit of a shabby Eastern Bloc feel and appearance, and everything being twice the price it is in the UK, the race itself is great. I know the entry fee may appear high BUT you are guaranteed a place, and the support/organisation is tremendous.
There is more than enough water, energy drinks, and gel sachets provided officially, but on top of this, in the latter half of the course, the good Dublin residents turn out and offer water, oranges, sweets, and so on. I can see no good reason to carry anything yourself - just pick it up as you go round.
You can get to the start by many forms of public transport, there is a well organised kit dropoff, the prerace marshalling is smooth, there are pacemakers with big balloons to chase for a number of target times.
The best bit - the amazing support from the residents who will cheer you on, so get your name on the front of your top so they can support you!!!
would love to get this time as last year i ran 3:50:00 after 7 days before running Amsterdam
Ran it this year with a friend who struggled through an injury so we ran together , had a good run and enjoyed the weekend.
Perfect conditions and a great crowd. Training scheduled was hampered by a couple of injuries so really wasn't expecting a PB. Was aiming to go under 3:30 but felt good at hafway and decided to go for it.
first ever marathon.imagine how good i could have done if i trained properly!!!
See blog. Too much to say here...
Had to stop running at 18 miles due to virus
Excellent course, fantastic support, ideal weather - am pleased to have got a PB but dissappointed not to have achieved my goal of SUB 3:30:00
Bang on for sub 4 hours until 14 miles when my left knee decided it had had enough... Bas Tard
Nil Desperandum !
YES !!!! I did it, First 5 miles were tough could not get into my stride because of crowd, may have started too far Back. But than put head down and felt good till mile 24 and than was just swept in by fab support. do you know what, i'm proud of myself knocking 37 min of my PB . I could not have dreamed of better.
A pw, which I thought it would be, with all the crap that's going on at home at the moment, and has really affected my running.
Pleased that I still went and did it though, and finished!
Did enjoy it but won't be doing another marathon for a while.
poor training and had a cold, finally kept an even pace for once My PB
This is was first marathon, both legs cramped badly at mile 14. I walked for four miles and then jogged walked for the last 8. Really sprinted home to beat 5hrs and felt like crap afterwards. But it's completed now.
I am probably mad to do this so soon after Berlin- but what the heck.
Okay this was fab but I hit the wall at 20 and was walking a lot from then on - but really enjoyed it regardless. Not really recovered from Berlin and a lot of little things went wrong.
First ever marathon. Felt absolutely amazing. Hope to do another one soon, and definitely smash the time.
my first marathon - amazing
too close to the Loch Ness to expect a great time / PB
Hit the wall and crashed and burned over the last 10k!
