hatterfan Good race, well marshaled. Nice cheering fans at the finish. Tough last couple of miles. I thought the start could have been organised a little better with timing pens this would have avoided some of the better runners who were obviously stuck at the back not bullying there way through once the race began! 100 Marathon Club 1:31:29 1:39:26 1:55:22 50.70

Lieutenant Lucerne A deceptively fast start on the down slope section. Settled in to a more sensible pace after about 3 miles, although a couple of sections were slightly slower, notably mile 7 around the top end of Willen Lake. Knowing that the last mile or so would be uphill, I put in a determined effort during the 11th and 12th miles, then hung on for a PB. Unaffiliated 1:25:52 1:25:52 1:25:52 74.37

Go-KL If I am feeling in good shape, plan to go all out to try and run a quick time - fairly ambitious with this prediction though!
Update 4/3 - Struggling a little with a calf injury, hope to run this but may revise plans of a quick race if needs be.
Milton Keynes Half Marathon. Despite the injury worries building up to the race, everything was okay on the day - just a slight feeling in right foot and calf in latter stages of race. Had a good run, found myself after a couple of miles pace making for the lead lady, who stuck to me like glue for the entire race until about 12 1/2 miles when on a nasty drag up to an overpass, I broke her by a few yards. Finished 20th provisionally and with a new PB which I was very pleased with. The really encouraging news is that HR was super low - quite a few beats lower than usual for HM and not much higher than marathon. Also the run was entirely comfortable except for the hilly final mile and I felt totally fine later in the day. Weather: sunny, cold with a very cold breeze which got stronger during race, around 4C max. Grantham Running club 1:14:46 1:16:47 1:16:59 1:16:47 75.72

theOtherRichard Nice, reasonably flat course. Except that nasty footbridge at the end which was steeper than I had expected and a bit cramped. The first few miles were far too overcrowded and with people of wildly differing pace. I spent quite a long time weaving in and out of people and running on grass verges.

Missed my PB by 5 irritating seconds. :o(
Had the dreaded 'never again' feeling when I crossed the line, fuelled by a missed PB and a very painful hip, but feel better and more realistic after a good night's sleep and will start to look for my June/July HM in the next few days. FERC 1:37:38 1:37:43 1:34:59 1:37:43 60.78

clare1976 So deperate to break my half PB which by this time will be 6.5 years old. Mara training should put in me reasonable form to do it! UPDATE: RAAAARRR :-) Blew the PB out of the water, delighted with this, loved the race! Spa Striders RC 1:28:16 1:37:51 1:42:59 1:37:51 66.17
Foxy woke up had pancakes & prepared to go & watch MK half then thought sod that I'll run it - last night speed session means I'm nakered now - sub 2, maybe sub 1.45 ?

pleased with my time, was slowed by volume of runners at the start & slowed in the 2nd half - 47.00 for half way - positive split.
