Club Sessions

Tuesday
A joint session that includes members from all the groups aimed towards a specific event, either marathon or half marathon, on a rolling programme
Thursday
Thursday night training is split into groups (1 to 6) based on times for 5 miles. This forms the basis of the groups but is a guideline only. Group leaders will encourage members to run in the appropriate group but it is ultimately left to individual choice. The objective of defining the training groups is to provide a safe training environment for all our members in which they can improve their performance and work towards fulfilling their potential.

Winter training is focussed on building a strong aerobic base with an emphasis on stamina and strength sessions; in Spring and Summer we can add more speed work, with an emphasis on shorter efforts and preparation for the road racing season.

Meet at 7.15/7.20pm to start at 7.30pm @ Wootton Community Centre, Wootton Fields.
Sunday
One of the most important training sessions in any runners diary has to be the long slow run and WRR have just the run for everyone. Every Sunday morning we meet for a friendly, social get together and we throw in a multi-terrain run for good measure. The routes are varied and very enjoyable, taking in bridleways, road, country fields and everything else in between.

At Wootton Road Runners the emphasis is on running as a group, the pace is always controlled with faster runners regularly re-turning to the pack and there are plenty of stops to re-group and keep everyone together. All you need to be confident of is your ability to run for a minimum of 90 minutes at a controlled pace, we seldom cover more than 10 miles, averaging about 9 minutes per mile.

Meet at 8.45am to run at 9am from various locations in and around Northampton. Locations are updated each week via the WRR website
