Probably increased pace too much in early stages so struggled in the last few miles but managed to kep going up the climbs. Need to get back into intervals and tempo training as too much general running in training.
Tied my laces too tight, resulting in toe cramps. Went off too fast instead of pacing. Really struggled at the end. Oh well, there's always London.
Got off to a very slow start with all of the traffic holding me up for the 1st couple of miles!!! That's my excuse anyway!!!
2 1/4 minutes quicker than last year so reasonably happy. Still felt pretty tough on the undulating bits around the park. Very well organised event.
Don't think I'm fitter enough to get near my PB. Will aim for a 50m 10k and then take it from there.
Looking for a PB here hopefully *UPDATE* Pleased with a 4 minute PB
Disaster - ankle packed in at about 6 and a half miles - had to walk for 3 miles - then gave it one last effort and managed to keep running to the finishing line - ankle fine again within a couple of days - not sure what happened.
Hope to break 1 50 for this course
disappointed a little with my time-very warm sunshine and more hilly bits than anticipated!! Very well organised event though!
Not a very impressive result. Training through the race, with only a mini-taper, but the lack of speed endurance told. Legs and feet really hurt after 10 miles which is unusal.
Slightly disappointed at my time. On the warm side later in the run along Portway. Organisational issues all sorted, well organised race.
Brilliant race - really enjoyed it. Much better prepared than Bath Half. Still needed to walk during last couple of miles. Think I started off too fast again (~ 10mins/mile) but this got me ahead of my predicted time. Maybe if I started slower I'd be able to keep going longer? Or starting slowly means I'd be on my feet longer so better to run faster and finish quicker??? Didn't need the loo part way round either so food/drink routine better this time too.
Not so good having to get back to College Green after race when finish is at Harbourside.
Fully expect to finish in 1:30:01 and miss yet another target by 2s!
A PB and first sub-1:30 half marathon
Wahoo, first sub 2hr Half, so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to a pre race step aerobics class led by Mr Motivator wearing a nurse's uniform and thought 'NOW i have truly seen it all'.
Have missed nearly two weeks of training because of a knee injury and nearly pulled out because it satill wasn't right. Even lining up on the start about ten minutes from the off I nearly turned back to just watch because the knee was twinging. Instead I whacked my tunes on the iPod and did my usual long distance bopping warm up and decided just to trot round slow and easy and maybe duck out after about 6 miles of recovery pace.
After looking at my watch on about the two mile mark i realised I had paced it all wrong and gone off like the clappers so decided to maintain it and just go for it and crash out when the knee finally gave way. It hurt a bit going round but it wasn't anything i couldn't deal with and was chuffed silly with a great PB (even though all my mates teased me and said i was a conman since i'd been banging on about a knee injury all weekend and then put in my fastest half ever - but it really WAS hurting, mofos!!
Great race, really enjoyable course, totally smashing weekend. This is why i run
would love to get a pb here, this was the scene of my 1st half and my best ever time of 2hours 3mins back in 2003. but my times since are all over the place, my last 2 were 2:25 and 2:07.. what's that all about
Really enjoyed this race. Arrived in good time to prepare properly weather conditons were good and it was well organised managed a strong finish very pleased with a new PB

This will be my last hard run before berlin! hopefully can get a pb heard its flat? Outcome pb by 4 mins bring on berlin!
Impossible is Nothing
Dreadful race (again - a few of these recently). On reflection didn't take it seriously enough and didn't eat or drink properly beforehand, and have a cold developing. Even with gels bonked from halfway really and last few miles a struggle. Quite annoying. Result 401st out of 10827
Ran with Ingram and Craig until 8 miles, after this I faded away. Never felt good today!
The bag lady
Part of 20 miler mara training with Zoom & Sluggett
Predicting a conservative time, hopefully on the basis that I'll have something to spare at the end. Outcome: Crap, legs hit the wall again halfway round, either i've got a trapped nerve in my back again or i've just got a massive build up of lactic acid.
3rd in my age group
Brilliant event, very well organised, good course for attempting PB. Over 16000 runners. Watch out for cobbles and a dirt track around the park, but otherwise grab a banana or gorilla costume and join in !
Coming back from injury. Training has been somewhat irregular but getting close to PB pace. Will the ankles hold out?
I wanted to come in around 2.30
wow blown away now....
SW22, Sluggett and I doing 3.5m before, and 3.5m after to make it a nice lsr for Abingdon/Dublin training.
Oh and it's going to be half number 37 of my 40 challenge.:)*tick*
Enjoyed this one, great atmosphere, lots of crowd support, and lovely running under the suspension bridge and weaving around the Marina/Harbourshide.
My first race since the Great South Run in 2002 and my first ever half marathon. Very pleased with my time as work has taken me to Russia and back 3 times in the last 2 months and made any training a nightmare!
First 10k in 46 mins and first 10 miles in 1 12... So my return to the GSR this year should see me beat my time of 1hr 25 when I was 22
wasn't planning on running due to having had an operation less than 8 weeks ago, but did and got a PB. I don't really count this as a PB though as I know I can do better. Just need to stop myself feeling sick when I race!!
training run for Berlin
Feeling dizzy on the day, injury in training on right hip, must of pulled something. Held up for the first 2 -3 miles.
didn't get to a pb but enjoyed myself, this is generally the only race i enter a year as i run for the endorphins
First ever half marathon! Was comfortable and at 1.40 pace until around mile 9. Then really struggled. Should have done the distance before the race in training. Was very happy to go under 1.45 though and set a really strong PB.
