Last big race before the London Marathon. Well worth doing again next year. Disapointed about the lack of showers.
First ever Half marathon, fantastic run. Support was uplifting - from public, marshalls and fellow runners so thank you all very much! Well organised, and coped no problems with the fact that I turned up wanting to run under my husbands number.
The BIG one for me too, will be aiming for 1.50...might be a tall order but I'll try and get as close to that time as poss. eek! **EDIT** woohooo pleased with my time, although wasn't 1.50, couldn't have done any better on the day!
The heat didn't bother me but I found this race tough. Partly pollen related but mostly lack of training related.
If anyone throws chips or sauce at me I'm gonna cockdrop em!
Srsly too hot for me. rubbish run. poo.
Over the moon, 4 minutes off my half marathon PB, set at Dartford last year, 1:23:52. Worked hard, went through 10 miles a minute quicker than 10 mile PB and maintained it. Nothing left for a kick over the last 200m, so paced it right and worked hard and made it hurt.
Not run further than 7.6 miles since Feb 1st so it will be a case of just getting round
UPDATE pleased with new pb by 35 seconds Very hot and tough today
Woohooo!!!! Thanks Boo - couldn't have done it without you!
A great race, only my second half marathon my first one was at Eastbourne 5 weeks early, when i finished in 3hrs 17 mins so a big improvement, im really pleased with my time .
Lovely race, great organisation. Shame shoes hurt and feet went numb but pretty pleased with outcome considering Reading Half last week.
started well for first 5-6 miles then started tiring and struggled towards the end. Nice race though very hot on the day and good friendly atmosphere. Will do again next year.
Too hot for me.... just had very little energy left after 10 miles.
well lets see if I'm slowly coming back to fitnes shall we. Aiming to trip up Shin Twigs , poke Runnerbean, hug Roobs and snog Boo :):)
Looking at the results today there were some very impressive runs by the Vets. Just a shame I was not one of them. I think I must be losing my mojo!
Combination of a quick start, sustained period of high height rate led to suffering for the last couple of miles, missed sub 80 but got a PB.
really good run, could of done with it being cooler though. New PB
last warm up before FLM...
superb conditions, sunny all the way. felt good and comfortably pb'd knocking 3.15 off previous best. was i really trying? am i lazy runner? or did it just all come together?
2nd lady (behind Clare Elms). Ran as hard as I could and, although not the time I was hoping for, I'm pleased with the result. Blew up rather badly(!!) but was able to put in a good last mile-and-a-bit. Obviously couldn't have run any faster today and even though I got tired my legs felt strong throughout. A very nice race and well organised, but the course wasn't as quick as I'd hoped and I'd say it was "gently undulating" the whole way round. I'd like to come back though and it was a bit warm.
Paddock Wood Half report. The plan was 6min miles, the result was 1.17.38
Back pain inside the 1st two miles was a concern as was the feeling it was rather hard work running this slowly. By around 8 miles everything clicked and at 10 I headed for home. All in all a solid effort.
Rach ran 1.21.46 and finished 2nd. NICE !!!!!!!!!
Great run for a PB.... Just no energy in the legs... 69'47 at 10miles.... Then complete collapse, did not even know if would finish... Nigel was awesome, always is, he will have to tell me his secret... And Lynds came home in less than 2h08 when she was targeting 2h15... Well done the two of you, well impressed!
As for me will have to learn my lesson and start slower next time... 4'19 is a long way to go if I want to go below 90minutes...
Awesome race in rather warm conditions. Was aiming for 1hr 35min. I started fast and Flo faster! Watched him go but then he overtook me at 6.5miles - not sure how! Watched him go again but caught him up at 9.5miles & when I wanted us to run the rest of the race together, he had nothing left. Chased the 70 yr old who won that category for last 2 miles & overtook him in a sprint finish. Then realised I had a new PB - nearly 3.5 minutes off my previous best at the Dover Half! Flo finished in 1hr 34min 19secs (which was excellent for his 1st race at the distance!) and Lyndsey did really well in just under 2hr 10mins. Well done guys and thanks for a great day!
The day got warmer, thank heavens for the water sponges. Felt ok. 2nd HM. Very pleased with result as i knocked off nearly 6mins. Nice race, enjoyed.
