Due to wedding stuff and courses at work I don't think i'll be able to fit in the training to get a PB; HOWEVER.... I'm looking forward to the race and will have fun no matter what!! UPDATE.......... Totally pleased with my time due to the fact i had a hangover, it was a hilly course, it was dead windy and rainy, and we got the second team prize in the PSUK event!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KinkyS
Watch time. Will write a blog later, but in brief, the weather was appalling and the third lap was soooooo tough. Happy with my time given the nature of the course and the conditions on the day.
Lieutenant Lucerne
Apologies to those who bet on me. Ultimately the conditions were too tough for me today. If you want more details I have written a blog (which is rare for me).
Doonhamer
PSUK Marathon Champs. Hopefully i'll be able to get in some better training for this than last few marathons. Depending on how well training goes i may amend my predicted time

UPDATE : With the arrival of my daughter in september and long hours at work i have hardly managed any training, so have decided to revise my target for the race and will be happy now just to get round in one piece

RACE UPDATE: Delighted just to finish and pleasantly suprised with the time. Well done to everyone who raced in miserable conditions.
MadJonny
Should be okay for a PB here - and 4-10 is realistic providing nothing goes wrong. I'm aiming to go at 9 minute miles though and see if I can get under 4 hours. UPDATE: Very happy with PB by 16 mins and right on my 4-10 prediction. Realised 9 minute miles were unrealistic early on. Wind and rain were awful on the top of the course on the first 2 laps. Second half of race only 3 mins slower than first half and pleased with consistent pace throughout. Don't think I could have gone any quicker on this course.
plodding hippo
Im gonna call this one five oh two

I am sure we started before nine-we had to catch em up!

My gramin didnt work till one mile(10.37) and then it died at 25 miles, I think i got there at 4.47, or 4.48

Offiicial clock shows 4 hours 10 sec, so thats 5 hours 10 msec

I dont think so

also got lost, half mile detour and five mins on

Im calling this a pb at 5.02.10-
Might be a bigger pb, but, hey
monki
Read the blog. Never. Again.

So Luton returns. I had to drop out at 20 miles last year due to being horribly sick - was on target for around a 3:20ish finish as well. Last marathon at leicester planned to be under 3:15 - over tight achilles and then patheticness over the pain this caused meant my last 7 miles were a rather pathetic hobble. I hadn't planned to aim for a PB at Luton but now really ready to go for it. I know the course, know that it is a bit of a challenge, esp mentally, but really think I have it in me to finish under 3:15 (and then hopefully upgrade my GFA place at London 08 to a championship one!)

EDITED UPDATE!!! Bloody hell I only did it!!! Plus my garmin says it was 26.56 miles. Thanks to everyone that betted on me :)
Paul P
Horrrible weather and the hills got bigger!
SteveX
Very wet and windy and cold too. Great Fetch support. I think official time will read 3:30:02 but was not chippped so am claiming back 15 seconds. Official time 3:30:04.
afreakazoid
Gun time. Took about 15 seconds to cross the line and felt a bit congested for the first lap. However, I am glad of this because it meant that I paced well for my target of 3:30. Legs have recovered well (as of Tuesday morning) and I am fit to continue Thames Path Ultra training.
Rich963
Apologies to anyone who bet - had an absolute nightmare. Ended up being pleased to beat 4 hours. Was on PB pace after one lap, then had to stop with toilet trouble that lasted the rest of the way.... Conditions pretty rubbish, but think I would have had a chance if I'd been able to absorb any energy today. Meant every bit of support was even more appreciated though!
SuperTed
First ever marathon, just want to finish, but deep down would love to get under 4 hours.
UPDATE, yahey, finished, just sneaked under the 4 hours despite legs not doing what they were told for the last lap
krusty
Garmin time 3:22:29, expected to do crap as weather forcast bad, however, blew my PB out of the water and i didn't bet on myself Doh!
Lefromage
I am running this race in the memoery of Tomasz Lugowski who passed away unexpectedly in september. He was a good friend and collegue and is greatly missed. DNF. Not happy.
RatRace
I should PB this one
Did PB this one.
Training suggested I'd do this time, so happy with that.

Scope to improve but chuffed for now.
Odeon1085
That was fun....not.

Realised early on (5m) that sub 3 was not on today.Had a couple of bad patches but finished strongly and didn't blow up!! First time ever. And a PB by 5 minutes
Jogging Jon
Fourth marathon of the year. Second in 5 weeks, just going to do it for fun and to have run an even number of marathons by the years end I have no time goal in mind.

Ran this race for fun, had a great time despite the weather I am sorry to all the runners put off by my chatter.
Hollywoof!
Why not?
climbingfishgirl
Fingers crossed for a sub 4hr.
Ant1
Awful weather again. wind & rain. Probably would have been close to a PB (abingdon) at 3.35 but for problems with stomach cramps
Too Much Water
Was meant to be pacing Jen round. Horrendous weather conditions, and even worse (for me) stomach cramps. Dropped out after 2 very difficult laps of 18 miles or so in about 2:57 after stopping 3 times to unload.
Wicket
Wind, rain, sleet, hail and three laps of a massive hill. This race has it all :) Hit the wall at 21 miles...schoolboy error not bringing energy gels.
