Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker. I understand. No-one likes ads.

But our site costs money to operate, and I need to eat.

Please consider enabling ads for our website, or making a voluntary donation. If you donate, I can turn off the ads for you for a period of time. Average donations are about £3.50 per month, so a tenner would give you three months ad free.

Here's a link to our donation info.

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I am fundraising for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders

I'd feel a bit cheeky asking my friends to sponsor me all the time, so thought I would limit pestering them to every time I do a distance for the first time. Started out with a Race for Life 5k for Cancer Research UK, and then did the BUPA Great Edinburgh Run as my first 10k for Amnesty International. My third new distance and run for charity was the Chris Hoy Edinburgh Half in April 2009 for Depression Alliance Scotland - the fundraising page is still up. ;-) dascot.workwithus.org

Now, in May 2010, I'm going to attempt a full marathon, this time for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders. I realise that my asking for sponsorship might be getting a bit much - but if you feel this is a cause you'd like to support, I'd be more than grateful.

About Me

In spring 2008, I did the Great Edinburgh Run with my sister to show her the city I live in, and enjoyed it so much that I started entering a couple of more races in autumn. A year later, I found myself taking part in a half marathon. And in May 2010, I did Edinburgh Marathon as my first ever full marathon. A knee injury hampered my training, and in the seven weeks just prior to the race, I only did a total of 4 miles. Still, not least thanks to the lovely Sophster dragging me round, I finished - and thanks to some very generous friends and Fetchies, I raised more than £1100 for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders. justgiving.com

I'm lucky to live very close to the sea, and enjoy running in beautiful countryside, having pizza afterwards, and seeing Fetchies at races or other socials. I'll never be fast, but I don't mind as long as I can have fun. Recently, I have discovered my love for slightly mad off-road races such as the Black Rock Nightmare, the Seven Hills of Edinburgh, and Carnethy 5, and am hoping to do many more of them. Without the Fetch community, I surely would have stopped running by now. Instead, I'm actually training for my second marathon in May 2011... :-)
