I'm now an ultra runner! The Hardwolds 40 (47.5 miles!) in June 2022 was a great day out.
First running streak lasted 621 days averaging 11.3km per day - want to get back on that again. Three days of commuting hit hard! So I've started a new contract with a new client (April 2023) with (hopefully) less travel and more time to run again. Now I just need to lose the weight I put on during all those office days again! Really snotty and sneezy for three hours yesterday then it went as quickly as it had started. Woke up this morning with a splitting headache so I binned off the long run straightaway and headed out for a short one to see if it would shift the headache. No luck

Going well until a steep stony descent just after 12km twisted my right knee. Hobbled and shuffled my way to 14km then gently got back to a sort of run on the flat. The next descent at 17km didn't help so it was a run/walk/shuffle from there to the end.
Nice route though despite the brutal hill in the middle and the repetition of the less brutal hill before and after it.
