I have trained on and off for a fair few years now but I seem to have a body that is determined to get injured as much as it possibly can. Due to this, the new addition to the family, both me and my OH working shifts and my foray into powerlifting for a few years, my training is generally quite sporadic.

Struggled with motivation to get out at all and found it tough to keep going, this way round is definitely tougher than the other due to more long inclines but I feel the extra effort was equally, if not more a mental issue today. Felt better for keeping the pace down but it turns out those tendons that were pulling earlier were attached to my shins as they were stinging throughout. Enjoyed it more for taking it slow though so will probably try for one more in the morning.

First lap of Equinox, definitely much harder now that I'm older and heavier, legs really struggled after 'that hill' Will be much slower for any remaining laps as a few tendons were very tight after the technical descent just before 4 miles. The overnight heavy storms had turned several parts of the course into muddy, slippy fun paths but despite the poor sleep, still heavy rain and very achy shins, still managed to get around at the same pace as my night lap. Would have ideally liked to do one more lap after this but needed to get stuff away before the rain washed the cars into the lake 🙈

Long run in the rain with the better half. Had been on the loo for most of the morning so knew it was a risk to take this route, nearly backfired a couple of times and thought I was going to have to cut it short but made it round somehow. Legs felt good, feet didn't appreciate going back to narrower trainers. May have to invest in some wider ones soon I think.

Had to use the B course due to mud, it adds an extra couple of cone hairpin turns so despite aiming for a SB, I was worried about hitting my target of 29.59, especially as I have been off training for the past couple of weeks but according to Fetch, I hit 5k at 27.38 so more than happy. It was hard work but at least the training that I have done is paying off. Project joker was officially a success, if delayed.
