About Me
Most of my friends know me as Cloggy as I originate from The Netherlands. I've been told that it's really not an insult - not entirely convinced, but got used to it now. ;) I moved to the UK (England) in October 2005 and (sadly) moved back to The Netherlands again in October 2012. I'm missing the UK and all you lovely, tho somewhat crazy people. I love your pubs (a tiny little bit too much perhaps ;)), countryside, Sunday roasts, curries, Victoria Sponge cake and the brilliant(!!) English sence of humour.

I started running (again) in Spring 2010. Back in my days at Uni (which was about 2 years ago ;)) I used to run, but faced problems caused by Compartment Syndrome in both my legs. I've had an operation on my left leg, but unfortunately the results weren't satisfying enough, so the surgeon decided not to bother with my right leg. :(

Shortly after arriving in the UK I started running again, but then faced a problem with my left knee; floating cartilage that time *sigh* - another operation later and the floating problem was resolved, hurray! :)

In March 2008 I have had a nasty horse riding accident and I have been told that I am very lucky to still be alive and/or to be able to walk, I could quite easily have ended up in a wheelchair or 6 feet under :-o. On a daily basis I still struggle from pain in my back, there is an option to remove a part of my spine and replace that with metal works, but I am not brave enough for that. Months after I recovered from my head injury I found myself struggling with my right ankle, it was then that the doc discovered that I had also broken that ankle during my fall, but by then it was too late to be set. How ever it had healed fairly well, so I once again have been very lucky.

I have been told that running is perhaps not meant for me, but stubborn as I am I am not going to give up hope and the will to one day run again (even if that will be very slowly).

I'm still not running (boo!!) in the passed couple of years I've had 2 operations on both feet to remove a Mortons Neuroma. Initially these operations seemed to have worked out quite well, but quite quickly the nagging pain returned. I've been given injections in both feet, but still things aren't quite right.

Besides running I'm still a keen horse rider, since my accident I now have my own horse and am feeling so blessed with him. heart horse

Anyway, I'm not going to give up and I am convinced that one day I will run again. Until that day I happily enjoy lending a hand at running events and cheer on anyone who does run. :)
