I've watched some very entertaining face plants in that bit of the woods in the past in the u13s and u15s, there are some big ditches and slippy slopes. But that's what XC is about!

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Looks like I'll be 'enjoying' the mudfests of the North District relays followed by the Scottish National Relays over the next two weeks. After a summer of parkruns and one 10k, at least the relays are short!

The Wind! Started steady then made progress through the field. HR graph looks about right for rising effort so overall a good start to the season.

Strange weather today at the North Mids XC, warm with a 30 mph wind. Happy with my run, 3 seconds under the 45 min target and a good steady pace with miles of 7.23, 7.31, 7.31, 7.30, 7.36, 7.07. Ran in road shoes on the parkland, although it had about 500 feet of climbing on the 3 laps, and they were cleaner when i finished than when i started.

Back spasmed (which it never does) warming up very very slowly at Wythenshawe, so was a bit anxious that it might go again in the race, but had no troubles in the end. Wind was windy but it felt equally beneficial as it was punishing. Though that section by the track after the woods was a bit windy.
Finished in the top half which is my benchmark of a good / bad effort. I just have no competitive spirit so when I lose 7 or 8 places in the final 200m I can't be bothered trying to sprint.
Results for all races out online before 5pm as usual for MACCL. Their organisation is just awesome.

Uyuni
Yes it was all rather bizarre Chrisity. 3 laps of a bone dry municipal golf course in twenty-odd degrees and a stiff gale was a world away from Shipley Park in January, or your Trent Meadows creation
All good fun though, I do like a variety of courses

Larkim, couldn't get there in the end today, it always seems to so this time of year for me. I was out and about later in the day and it felt stupidly warm. More like early summer...indeed about the results, very efficient considering all the races/groupings...

57.5 Degrees of Pain
The true xc experience was to be found south of Inverness today with cold, rain and mud aplenty. At least the relay legs were only 4km. Bit of a lonely run as I overtook one and was overtaken by one, and neither were Vets teams. Happy with a District silver medal in the Vets race though, mainly down to a new and very swift teammate who gave us an excellent first leg.

Trent Meadows looking a bit doubtful this year, the nice water features are likely to be fenced off. We'll cobble something together but it's not going to be nearly as nice Uyuni.

Gave XC a bash for the first time today. East district relays at Glamis. Heavy rain all day made it rather muddy in places. Nice 4k route.
