Yep just the final which is invite only anyway. Very mixed responses to the news by the ladies in my club who might qualify. I can see why they have done it as it is trials for the international 10k race but to do so without consultation and against results from last year which suggested athletes didn't necessarily want the change feels like trying to sneak it in.
Not impressed by some people pro change getting an audience with UKA and claiming this is the outcome either. Feelings seem to be fairly split so why aren't those who want things as they are not being represented in these meetings?
I won't run any races that go to 10k as its too far for me. 8k is my limit at xc. It also puts off slower runners. Not a problem at national level obviously, but if it filters down will decimate some fields that are only just seeing pick up (outside of traditional xc counties like Surrey. Yorkshire etc). It also means more lap courses and less variety of terrain to fit the distance in. Ho hum. Hopeful Surrey will remain 6 and 8k for a while.

My bad, I missed that it was just the last one.
It's definitely not something everyone agrees on, we can agree on that!!

Thames Valley XC starts this Sunday with the Metros event. We have a pretty weak team but at least all slots are taken.

First event in the North Midlands XC at Markeaton Park in Derby this weekend - haven't done it for 8 years but it will still be the same grassy parkland. If i have a good run i may just avoid a PW. The event is in the race listings now, so sign up if you are doing it.

XC at Metros was the driest event I've ever known, warm too! I doubt that will continue for very long

Wythenshawe for me at the weekend in the Manchester Area League - new route around a venue that's been on the circuit for a few years, and my second season running in the League.
Will be wetter than your one CW I reckon!

XC relays on 20th for us. Looking like the Birmingham League may have a few different courses which would be good.

Chrisity - i spent alot of my early years on the bumper cars & donkeys at Markeaton Park, enjoy!
Larkim - maccl for me too. Recced the route in the dark t'other night, if we got it right it's mostly bits of prev years reversed except extra bit of field (flat) and more complicated in the woods (we abandoned in here).

It's the more complicated woods bit that will suit me out. Flat fields I'm fine with!
