Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes the logs were an interesting addition. Soared over them on the first couple of laps, more of a clamber the final time round :-)

Looking forward to the National as I’ve not run at Parliament Hill before

oi you
Wollerton Park is a really great venue. I've been there twice, I think. for the Nationals.

SEAA yesterday at Brighton was less successful though. I didn't run as I've had a bit of a niggle that won't go away.
Sadly we're getting used to multiple complaints about SEAA events and yesterday was no exception.
There was a lack of signage for loos & the start etc.

There was no PA - the guy who was setting it up left when no-one could arrange power for him.
There was, initially at least, no catering - they thought it was being staged on Sunday.
There was, again initially, no merchandising (hoodies etc)
The men's race was started before the Senior Women's race was clear and so 750 men ploughed through the tail of the women's race.
The SEAA had, only last week, announced that any men who had taken 55 minutes to do the first 2 laps would be 'advised' not to do their 3rd lap as the course and marshalling would be withdrawn.
As a results of that the results now contain a random mix of times for runners who have done a shorter distance. I've also just spotted that the official results record the time of day that each runner finished rather than their race time.

And the weather was rubbish.

One of our U13 girls needed transport off the course after a fall. The Medic's 4x4 got stuck as the only gate had been blocked by, I think, the late-arrive merchandise man.

Sorry to hear you/your clubmates didnt enjoy it. Weather aside, I actually thought they got it right (for once - road relays this year was a shambles and London champs has been similar in the past).

Interesting how different race experiences can be isnt it? But if you arent involved with problems you never know that there were any...

SEAA do need to sort themselves out. Especially given the amount they charge for races.

Uyuni - I love Wollaton and I’ve run that version of the ladies course before but I found it really hard going yesterday. It’s always muddy near the end of the lap but it just really slowed me down and I felt very disheartened at the time. Felt a bit better looking at friends times when I got home and seeing they were 30, 40, 60 sec mile off their usual XC speeds.

Fantastic photos there, thanks

Great to hear of the love for Wolly Park. It was hard going yesterday ndellar so don’t be too disheartened. It’s amazing how much tougher that they can make the course compared to the North Mids one just by going in the opposite direction and moving the course fifty yards to the left away from the hard ground and into the filth! I’m just relieved that for the men it was the advertised 12k rather than the 15k debacle at Prestwold last year. Would have been thrilled to stop at 10k mind!

I was sorry to miss Colwick Woods as it was a lovely morning. It was our clubs annual dinner last night so I was a little worse for wear this morning. Some folks managed the Midlands, partying until the early hours and Colwick Woods triple-header but they’re better men and women than me :-)
