Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

EA doesn't have an issue with mixed male and female races Stilldreaming, as far as I know.

Since last year the league I know (Manchester Area, MACCL) runs mixed male and female races for all age groups up to and including U17 but then separates with a male combined juniors, seniors and vets (10.5k usually) and the same for women (8.5k usually) having previously mixed the age groups with an offset (U13G with U11B, U15G with U13B etc) and U11B and U17G running individual races. With sons it didn't really occur to me about the sexism on display (I'm ashamed to admit), but I'm pleased they've made inroads into removing it.

170th for me yesterday, but gained places on muddy climbs and off the top too, which was very satisfying!!

Great pic Chris. I missed it this year, but always love this race, especially the water features :-)

So you’re the man to blame Chris! I’m from a Nottingham based club so we only race there once a year thank goodness, but it is always great fun. Having to smash the ice first would have made it even more hardcore than usual – might have made the “agricultural” bits slightly less pungent though so swings and roundabouts I guess :-)

Thanks for your efforts laying the course, see you in Feb for the East Mids race

Uyuni, the ice was up to 1/2 inch thick, not very safe for unprotected ankles. But i can leave it on for you in Feb as long as you get the insurance for us all.

I was referring to your work as being more hardcore, which I’m sure that the runners were grateful for. I’d forgotten about the bank – memories tend to linger on the swampy bits, I’m sure that hauling yourself up there a couple of times was even more of a challenge than usual

I did the Tadley XC in the TVXC league yesterday. It was proper muddy. Most of the mud was above shoe height but when the marshal shouted 'watch out deep mud ahead' I wondered what he was talking about. There was a section where it was over a foot deep! That couple with it being around 2 deg. C meant it was probably the most hardcore XC I've done.

Really interesting to contrast it to last year when it was frozen. I was about 20sec/km slower this year!

Midlands Champs at Wollaton yesterday was a bit of a suffer-fest. I had my best ever XC race there a couple of weeks ago in the North Mids but a slightly different course made a huge difference and I was a good 90 secs per mile slower. 4 laps made for a bit of a mental battle as well but it was great to see the how smooth the leaders looked while running though the worst of the slop

I love Wollaton. Log jumping and all :) Its is tough though, well done Uyuni!

I did Southern XC at Stanmer Park - course surprisingly similar in difficulty to Parliament Hill I would say. Not as muddy though and a few more stones underfoot. Not my best run ever, but okay for where I am in marathon training. Just one league race and Nationals for me then the XC season is over :(
