Well done to the Potmeister👏👏👏
Last 10k into the breeze was a real test for me. Last 5k was one foot in front of the other.

I’m so pleased with my race. Given that I was heaving after a 1:42 half 3 months or so ago, I’m a bit shocked.

“Congratulations on completing the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon! Your finish time, brought to you by TAG Heuer, is 3:28:11. #WeRunTogether”

The beer tastes sweet.

Just like Steve i found that last 10k really tough going and although was remaining hopeful of 3:30, eventually finished in 3:32:09. Not too upset just glad to get round close to 3:30 and still should be OK for GFA if I want to put myself through that again next year. Well done to everyone else who got through it.

Yay just catching up, well done SailorSteve, Pothunter and Dibble, great results! Also well done chunky, you ran a marathon yesterday, that's something to be proud of. I'm sorry it didn't go to plan. I've not seen the backstory yet but I'll go off stalking blogs and the orange place shortly..

Mine went well, almost as well as it could have in fact so I'm delighted. I stuck to my plan and ran to effort/ heart rate. The first 18 ish felt really comfortable. Canary wharf was OK though I dislike the echoes it creates, plus it created some wind tunnels which felt like hard work at times. Upon leaving CW, during mile 20, I took an impromptu pit stop at some portaloos which I think cost me almost a minute- but may have cost me a lot more in time and / or dignity if I'd not! I got back on track straight after so it was time well spent and the final 10k was hard on tired legs but thanks to my cautious start I was able to hold around / just under 8mm as I'd hoped. There really was quite a headwind at times on the long route back westbound and I sometimes found people to hide behind, but people's pace can be pretty irratic that far in - had one person stop dead in front of me at one point, so I found it easier to find my own space and battle on. I picked things up slightly towards the end to dip under 3:27, final chip time 3:26:52. Retching several times after crossing the line indicates I gave it my all!!

So not quite the A-goal, mainly due to the pit stop but I'm not really bothered. I'm happy with how I ran and whilst I didn't love the final 10k, I didn't hate it either and my sub-3:30 aim felt realistic given where I am now.
