Vet 35 exists according to national associations but most races still ignore it like the athletes do I am a senior not a V35 and will not enter anyt vets only races until I turn 40(which happens far too soon for my tastes) I did my first XC race of the winter at the last Hampshire league. Standard looks high again this year. I was 27th :~( |

I started a couple a weeks ago with the North Mids League - was great fun. Got those races and the Derby Runner League this year - all in the name of run!

How do you guys adapt your training during cross country season? more strength work? I pretty much have a race most weekends in some months so fitting in an LSR on the Sunday is probably not an option. |

Second XC last weekend, Livingston. Scottish East District league. First one was the relay at Prestonpans week before. Great fun! I was rubbish, but a. i'm improving and b. i'm enjoying!38:33 for 9K and several decent climbs! which was 1:33 faster than last year for same route. I still do 8-12 miles of hills or 10-14 miles trail on the Sunday, but that's really an SSR or an MSR not an LSR!

When I was doing xc last year i didnt change my training at all, I found the first rest races hard but after that i was fine and seemed to improve race by race. My main aim from it was strengh for going back onthe roads.

Today's race at Magog Down was least muddy cross country I've ever done. I was expecting it to be dry underfoot but not that dry !! Good to see Blue Wombat and april runner there Why she was worrying about finishing last I don't know she had a great run. Results with a few mistakes from the look of it, several Eastern AA runners are listed as running for RAF in mens race - srcf.ucam.org |
