Aha, small world!! Yes, Roberto, that's us. He's getting to grips with the slow / medium / fast pack arrangements in the league up there, posted the joint fastest time apparently. He's in good form, really enjoying running in the university context.
Are other leagues organised like NEHL with the staggered starts? I've not seen that locally, presumably it's to late sure the mass starts aren't too congested. Fast group for him next time anyway!

Yeah, he is definitely doing well. It's a good format but makes some of the races very co gested as the medium or fast packs catch the ones on front.
He finished a good 4 mins ahead of me yesterday but unfortunately for me, I have also been promoted to fast pack which reflects the conditions as a good chunk of runners were missing that should have been between him and me.

Welcombe Hills for Bham XC League Div 2 Fix 2 yesterday. XC for me as well. Another tough course (hilly and muddy) but good weather. Had a better race than last time and was 33rd Vs 43rd last time. Steady start, strong middle but faded a bit at the end so still need to get stronger. I've just noticed I have exactly the same Spa Strider directly in front of me in the results as last time!
These first two courses have shown the value of XC specific training for tough courses. Not something I'm planning to do right now though.
Next league race will be the pretty flat Coundon Park which will suit me better but also will be a nice respite as legs will already be tired from the county champs the weekend before.

Div 3 for me and racing against Div 1 - top 160 of a double field and 21st in Div 3 - tactically I got this wrong, too far back at the start and too steady in the middle. I was way too strong in the last mile :¬0

Sunday fixture and bonus distance at Arrowe Park today 11km instead of the usual 9.6km
Muddy undulating course a real test of stamina.

I've just tweeted to MACCL about that long course rhb! I knew it was going to be long when we got to 2 miles well before the first lap was complete.
Not the world's most inspiring course, but a decent challenge; a long day though, we were there from 10:40 to walk the course with the u11s.

I missed your reply larkim, sorry.
Yes seemed long on first lap, my split showed 17 and so I thought I was running very bad!
Course seemed forever uphill with only one really runnable downhill (down to the single track through the trees). I think all the other downhills were into the strong wind so we're lost.
I'd enjoy racing there again, it is a long journey for "Manchester Area", makes for an even longer day if you've jr's along too as was case for you.
Tatton should be, erm, nice... fingers crossed

72nd overall but only 16 points implies I was 16th in whatever category I was in
Anyone else out today ?

Didn't realise you were there Gobi, I'd have said hello.
Just supporting as I have an ankle injury. Nice course for seeing what's going on.

Cheshire champs for me. But only lasted 1 lap of 4 - not feeling it, wanted to watch my eldest up front and my hamstring was decidedly tight. Good day out though as usual!
