1 short, 1 long I think HG. I reckon you'll be OK! Interesting to see CH doing it - at less than 10% of his preferred race distance.

Is there an English equivalent of this race? I don't recall seeing a short course XC champs, but that's not to say there isn't one.
Good to see the elites in there in both fields. Do they get mobbed for autographs?

Burton Dassett was brutal! Cold, wet, and a very tough course. Can't say I enjoyed it as the cold really got into me (should have worn the Helly under the vest), and think it affected my performance. Some of it might be down to it being my first race in three months though.

Kenworthy was fun. Glad I chose spikes.
Started at usual intensity but was empty & cold in chest & belly, eased up & spent race watching others pass by, but without worry. Probably should have dns'd or then dnf'd, especially now I can see how high HR remained when at chatty pace.
Had spent morning at allotment shifting 30 barrows of manure, which was 4.75 miles too, which wasn't best prep.
New course next time out, exciting.

P.s. first time queuing to cross finish line. 45s to cover last 10 meters or so.

Well done SPR, I was the shouty marshal on the short sharp hill near the road, it turned in to total slop very quickly!

Ndellar - I didn't notice the road but was that the hill were you immediately turn left off the top? That one was really sapping the last couple of times as powering up seemed the only way to get up once it got sloppy.
Well done for marshalling in those conditions. You had a few enthusiastic marshals out there, one even had a bell!
Would love to do it again at some point in better weather.

I think that was me. So many hills on that course. It was a sharp up where you go round to the left at the top yes.
It was good fun, but I was absolutely frozen by the end despite having all my clothes and a waterproof coat on! Also my voice is going 🤣

lovely run at West Glebe Park, Corby in the North Mids today, interesting course with a few undulations through the woods and good firm grass. l Looking at the Conquercise stats i think Seratonin lives there.

Wriggling Snake
Pitched up at Kenworthy Saturday to watch my Uni people. Slightly disappointing turn out for the women (the teams have reversed, women very good the last 3 years, me not so at the moment, now the men seem to have the bit between their teeth). If I could explain why, I'd be a half decent coach.
I had 'podium' placed woman, 3rd very good, after the first lap she was in fifth, but you could see she was going to catch the two in front. Same with the first lad, 7th/8th first lap, 5th at the end. If you ask me she could do with a longer race, 8/9k...
I get fed up with the old XC maxim of going hard at the start, fuck that, get into your race them pick them off, unless you are ultra confident of winning, very good indeed. Especially the lad, very hard being 19 and running against men in their late 20s and 30s, just in terms of strength, he looked young at the front and held off most of the Salford Harriers, very good indeed.
The men have got to grips with running as a group in training, as well as racing, the rest of the team came in at 57th, 62nd, 70th, 75th, 76th...well happy with that.
