Thanks Ndellar and rhb.

Yes Ndellar that does make it harder. Always good to have a fixture with the women. Good full club day out.

I was at Wolverhapton yesterday, though hadn't realised you were in the finish Funnel, SD - thank you! My clubmate sandra was also marshalling doing that role so I likely inadvertently made a beeline for her as I staggered over the line! It was a great race, I too like the course and I felt I ran strongly, picking up the pace/effort each mile and overtaking people constantly with nobody coming past me. It was weird having none of the men's races at the same time, though parking was pretty challenging with just women, not to mention the queue in the Costa for hot drinks afterwards!

Glad I wasn't down to do the Midlands Champs today. Looking at strava it seems the about 12k course ended up being 15km!

For men, will be interesting to hear about the women's course.

Edit apparently 9km instead of 8km.

When I first started XC in 2008, courses were routinely longer than the stated 5 or 6K for ladies. Then people complained and they became closer to advertised length. Was it a mix up or just off measuring?

Have no idea. Only thing I can think of for the men is that the start loop shouldn't have been added. Not sure on the women's race.

I always skip the Midlands as there's too many in a short space of time (would be four races in six weeks).

It was our club annual dinner last night and there were a few folks there that did the Midlands looking a bit ashen faced. It was a 4 lap job apparently and at the end of the third lap people assumed they were coming into the finish so unleashed a sprint only to find the funnel taped off and told to go round again so you imagine how that went down.

Wind, rain and hail added to the fun, glad I missed it!

Uyuni yeah apparently one starting loop and then three full laps.

Me and you both, terrible weather and longer race than expected is not a great combo. Great mental toughness by those that raced though.
