Although surely you suffer from the earlier age group races as well, the course was already a mess by the time I got there to see the women start. I like undulating (as opposed to hilly) courses and mud of course improves the strengthening aspect of XC but in terms of competing with others firmer courses suit me better the slushy ones. We've done Cheltenham, Sandwell, and Leamington so far this year and Cheltenham course and conditions suited me the best.

Brands Hatch car park was the venue for yesterday's Kent champs. Not flat enough for football pitches but no real 'features' either. I finished 5th from last but was 90 secs a mile quicker than last year, so not at all displeased.
