Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

On champs races there are so many races before the seniors/masters races that it's always muddier than it would be at a league fixture.

It's always a pleasure to churn the course up for the Senior men.

Evil, lol. Although surely you suffer from the earlier age group races as well, the course was already a mess by the time I got there to see the women start.

I like undulating (as opposed to hilly) courses and mud of course improves the strengthening aspect of XC but in terms of competing with others firmer courses suit me better the slushy ones. We've done Cheltenham, Sandwell, and Leamington so far this year and Cheltenham course and conditions suited me the best.

Yes ours was already quite churned up too - I really liked it, it was undulating - some nice long slow inclines and downs to match, muddy but not impossible. My legs are feeling it this morning though!

I'm the other way round, I can give people a run for their money and claim a shock victory(!) on a muddy boggy hilly XC who would beat me on some flat football pitch style courses and road.

This is a photo of one of my club mates at the infamous Alton Towers National a few years ago. Now *that* was muddy. I got lapped by Liz Yelling, my claim to fame.

Is that a river of mud, lol. Looks like footprint marks disappear straight away.

I hate football pitch type XC even if it might suit me (although I think varying effort of undulating courses suit me better).

We have Coundon Park Coventry next weekend which is football pitch XC but can get really muddy as it seems to be in a valley.

Will see how I feel this week before committing to doing it.

oi you
Ah! Alton Towers, what a day out that was. All that mud was lightly dusted with snow too.

Brands Hatch car park was the venue for yesterday's Kent champs. Not flat enough for football pitches but no real 'features' either.
I finished 5th from last but was 90 secs a mile quicker than last year, so not at all displeased.
