Ours are run at the same time. Same course. Same length. Assumed they were all like that.

Seperate races (of the same length!) is the best way as it allows while families to compete without needing to find childcare.
Course at Mansfield was excellent yesterday

We have 5/6K for ladies, 10K for men, always separate races, mostly at same venues apart from Birmingham league where the venues can't or won't cope with the combined numbers and the men have to get their own tea only exception for us is the relays where we all do 5K and run together.
I do feel sometimes having a longer race would favour me, but immediately after I always think I'm glad I don't have to run that all again!

Ours are all 4-5 miles - which I find quite long enough

Our leagues are 6k and then 8k for ladies, with men's at least 10k I think. Different venues with different start times. We have 450 women so couldn't do same race (only 100 men or so). Also we have a much kinder scoring system that sees everyone count. The men's is top 10 in each team and that's it. Ours is cumulative scoring so each runner pushes up the score of the other teams runners behind them.
Champs races are different too, 5m ish for women. Which I don't mind. We do up to 8 at mob matches though and that is more than enough! I couldn't do 9 on parliament hill as the men do. Urgh.
