Yes I'm looking forward to an XC with proper mud, the 2 so far this season have been dry.
Despite my protests I enjoyed yesterday, my first bit of proper effort since the Marathon 2 weeks ago. I liked the water crossings but it was a bit weird, quite wide shallow streams with brick banks and the man made nature of it made me feel like I was jumping off the edge of a canal. Start and finish of the lap were evil on the uphill. Was pleased to be in well before one of last years rivals but waiting for everyone else so I can really compare the leg times!

That's one of the things I like about XC, seeing progress over the season against your fellow runners!

oi you
Race 2 in the Kent League yesterday. A bit of a slower run, but that's not surprising as it's a much hillier run and some places were very slippery underfoot. It did actually feel like a better run despite being slower. Overall it was a similar result for me - 194th of 197.
M60s were a bit thin on the ground though, and I ended up 7th of 8. I think that'll put me 6th overall in the league. Only a few left to knobble now to retain my title.

Great running oi you! Keep nobbling.
AL I love xc sessions we've been doing special hill sessions and then adding flat out sprints at the end :O
Club mate took three places in sprint finish at the last match. Wish I had some of the younger ladies sprint speed

In prep for our first XC league race next sat, myself and a few club mates did some XC practice today at the same place where our race is next weekend. Loved it, was great fun. I wore my Speedcross trail shoes for most of our run which have great grip but are quite heavy and feel ploddy especially as I put orthotics in them. I then quickly changed into my brand new spikes before the last couple of miles we did and wow, what a difference! My feet felt so light in comparison and I felt even better on my feet in the slippery mud sections.
Today wasn't about pace, so I'm really interested in how next weekends race goes, my first one in XC spikes. Looking fed to it

I'm looking forward to it too, I've done 3 XCs this season already but always feels like I've properly started XC when the Birmingham league comes around . The men's race is something to behold with all 3 divisions running.

National XC relays yesterday. Great course, didn't run well, should've attacked the grass bits more.
