Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I don't do 'XC training'. Can see how muddy hills would help, but apart from that, road running is fine imo.

oi you
well, I suppose you can't get much more south than Cornwall.
Kent League starts in early October. Perhaps I should try to do some running before then.

Just ordered this years spikes!

I would recommend running on uneven ground rather than hills. Its the mud plus the cambers and lumps that does most peeps for xc. Oh and some downhill running is good if you fancy special sessions.

Did 3k xc last Tues in the same time as my 3000m track pb. Lol. I should only ever run off road ;)

I think I might find a short circuit off road - the uneven surfaces are always a bit of a shock to start with :)

Toying with buying spikes for this year rather than wearing my speedcross. Do people still go up 0.5-1 size like normal trainers or more like usual shoe size? I would think they need to be a tighter proper fit with less room to move in / allow water and mud to gather, but don't want to further bash my toenails!! And as the distances are short then perhaps feet don't expand as much? What do others do? Dark coloured socks are obviously essential!
