Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Mostly lovely with some hellish hills at 7 miles. 10 miles in all, my longest run yet :-)

I went for a pre-breakfast run up in Leicester, through Bradgate Park (don't know if any of you would know it, but it's beautiful and full of deer. It's where Lady Jane Grey's family lived, at Bradgate House, which is just ruins now). Parked up, in through the Newtown Linford gates and started up the path and there was the most magnificent young stag with huge antlers just by the side of the path watching me go past! Not running off, just watching. Stunning. So I ran past him and over the first little ridge and down and there was a little herd (is that the right collective noun?) of a Stag, some younger males with smaller antlers and 3 or 4 females with their young.

And on I ran and there was another little family grazing in the bracken just past the Old John gate, and when I was coming back from the Cropston gate back to Newtown Linford via Old John and the memorial there was a bigger group, maybe 20 or 30 in total, grazing in the saddle between 2 of the hills.

I've never seen so many deer inone run in there. It was quite breathtaking, and so was the climb up to Old John.

I proper love that park. When I win the lottery I'm moving it nearer to my house.
