The Sundial wasn’t published in the UK until 2014. I see why.

I went into our local bookshop this morning to order the Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy of which Daz spoke in such glowing terms. It's out of print but the bookshop lady thinks she can get me a second-hand copy in good condition. It's around 1,000 pages long, so I'd better read the Ali Smith first.

Columba - re Kristin Lavransdatter - it is still possible to buy new copies of the more recent Nunnally translation on Amazon/eBay - it's fairly expensive though
the older Archer and Scott translation can be got a lot cheaper
both translations do it full justice though imho

Right. Bought it. I’ve been talking to my newest and bestest friend Charlie. Seems rumours of Foyles’ demise (at least in chelmsford) have been greatly exaggerated.

Binters? What sayyest thou?

The sale to Waterstones was completed this week. I doubt any changes will be made before Christmas and nobody knows what their plans are yet anyway other than business as usual.

Charlie is very chatty :-)

I took my copy of TBFT off the shelf (a proof copy no less) and found this inside

NaM must be about 6 in this photo and he's 23 now.
Spooky!
