I'll start There But For The once I've finished Milkman.

I highly recommend Milkman if you can get past the style of storytelling, the narrator of the story doesn't understand the word 'pause'. It's an exhausting read but a brilliant story which really captures the paranoia and social attitudes of the late 1970's Belfast of the Catholic community.

Oops, me too :-o

I've got The Mandibles on my TBR pile so I'd be interested in that as a choice. I'll definitely try the Ali Smith book. I read the book she did that had a modern and a historical half. It didn't really work as a book for me but I did like the writing. It will be good to have another go so I'll have a look in the library.
