Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yeah I'd like to think it was worth 3 or 4 mins vs a flat one. Need to find a flat one. Might have to wait til Feb / March though. :-) G

62.32% last week in a 10.5K in Thailand at 0:47.48

28°C with a 24°C dew point. The challenge wasn't so much fatigue, as keeping cool. So much moisture in the air means sweat doesn't evaporate.

It was also a 5AM start, which required hiring a moped and getting up at 3:15 AM!

I finished 16th overall and 5th in age group. I probably would have done better with a better heat adaption or cooling strategy. On the last water station I just poured it over me which seemed better than drinking.

Its definitely much easier to race and train in the UK. I think as a tourist, I have quite an advantage due to being able to train in most weather.

In contrast to London, drivers in Thailand dont try to kill (punishment pass) me when I need to run on the road which was nice.

I have a London 10K this week, where dew point is expected to be about 6°C and temp about the same so it will be interesting how it compares

Thanks. The race was fun. A last minute entry I stumbled upon - sent for a massage and was moaning about my runner calves. They said there is a half Marathon in 2 days. Thankfully also a 10.5K and 5K so I went for the 10.5.

I think I would DNF at Half Marathon and couldn't justify getting up at 3AM for a 5K

I had a vague understanding of dew point / humidity before but working in that extreme really helped understand it.

I found this helpful for anyone not familiar with dew point.

Yes i started to look at this too during this year and our unusual hot and humid summer, really interesting and useful. I had dew point on my watch so that was nice.

71.86% and a new SB with a 21.41 parkrun, my best since PF hit. I worked comfortably hard and am sure there is still room for improvement to sub 21.30 fairly easily.
