Thanks Goofee. I'm a long way off yet (highest is 65.79%) but hoping for big things as I get older - currently in my 50th year :-)

That's one of the real benefits of concentrating on WAVA TeeBee, it feels like decent improvement is still very attainable. Keep us posted on your progress!

A great idea for a thread! Who knows, maybe one day I'll be up for a 70% goal, at the moment I'll be happy to touch 60%. Good luck all, I'll be watching with interest!

Ok - a few words of warning. Don't rely on getting older to give you better wava scores ... there comes a point when it just gets HARDER not easier!

I do have one piece of advice (well it worked for me). Find your best distance and train specifically for it. In spite of loads of hard work and the compulsory upping of mileage beyond 30 miles a week my distance running WAVAS never got beyond the low to mid 60s.

When I switched to sprinting and trained hard for that I went from 70 plus to 80 plus.

If you REALLY want good wava scores... do what you're best at!

Good point Sharkie. I have long felt half-marathon is my strongest suit, which is supported by it being my best age-grading. I'm seriously considering giving up marathons as I just don't seem to have what it takes to do them in a way that satisfies me.

I've been chasing a 70% wava for the year, and got it last week at Parkrun, hurrah!
