Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What or who do you hate but everybody else seems to love??

I think you'll find lots of +1s to that one, Dave. I'm one for a start.

But most those pumpkins are grown specifically for Halloween (I don’t recall ever seeing them in shops as a child) so they serve a purpose and provide an income for the growers.
The variety grown for Halloween can be eaten, but tend to be rather more fibrous than the types grown as a food crop.
(PS, I’m rather indifferent to Halloween as long as I’m not disturbed by trick or treaters)

+1 for Halloween. Nothing good to say about it. Just another stupid American idea that we have to copy.

[While the modern day version of trick or treating has certainly been Americanised (ized?) to annoying proportions, i think its origins are actually Scottish/Irish]
