Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Our results are out from Worcs yesterday, there didnt seem a lot there but only 48 ladies, no U20 ladies and no full U17 ladies teams. Only 80 or so in the men's race. We never have massive numbers but this seems tiny. Wonder why.

Thought the same about the Yorkshire Champs on Saturday, ndellar, 240 senior men and 125 senior women, which isn't many to say the number of clubs in such a large county. Poor turnout really.

We only had 121 women in the NorthEast Champs. I think often the women avoid them as they think everyone's going to be super fast - which obviously they are! We get a lot more women that do the local Harrier League xc regularly. Not from my club like ... can't get the women to run. They seem to be allergic to mud! Boo :-(

we didnt field a team as one of ours was ill! However, one of the problems with xc down here is the fixtures are too close together. Most people dont want to race 5 or 6 hard muddy miles every week...so you can understand fewer turning out.

I did the champs and the league fixture the week after last year and the year before. This year I skipped the champs due to the amount of training I'd done. I always skip the Midlands champs as three in four weekends is too much (and it's long ;-)).

We had a team with the four counter being speedy...as I would have done them no favours! 7th for senior women at Surrey on Saturday and the daughter of one of the ladies will be running for Surrey in April!

We constantly have to badger people to run for our team and mostly the fastest runners we can get are all Veterans. A lot of our best V40's won't do them now that V35's are classed as Veterans also and therefore don't see the point.

We only have one fast woman, two of us who are alright and the others rotate. I like it when we have a team, but I know other people have different priorities. Part of the problem is this in my eyes:
the spring mara used to be London, XC is built around that. Most of us dont do London anymore, so it becomes far more difficult to fit the complete season in before you have to get deep into mara training.

Its impossible to spread the season out further but I would like to see some of the events pruned from the calendar (probably for us that would be mob matches), we have a race every week for about 15 weeks :-O
