Frostbite on Sunday and it's not proper cross country: flat as a pancake and partly on roads. And it's round a prison. Deep joy.

Knackered after XC today, twas a tough race. Will need to look at results and analyse placings etc, to establish how this compares to four weeks ago. As usual, showed any challengers to my position in the last few metres a clean pair of heels in the finishing sprint (well they were very muddy actually). Ndellar - How did you find it? |

One of the girls from my club ended up running round with only one shoe after the mud sucked the other one off! flickr.com |

I absolutely loved it SPR, I thought it was a great course. Uphills seemed ok, downhills were of a gradient I could really give it some welly on, muddy in places but quite runnable compared to a lot of the comedy mud baths I've done lately. Think my downhill technique has also improved, the group of girls that came in behind me were all part of a little group of us that kept swapping places, after coming round the downhill back bit near the water and through the gates I gave it some to get in front.... And stayed in front thankfully! Got a hell of a sore chest from the cold air though, I resemble an 80 a day smoker at the moment! |

I couldn't get a rhythm today really. The 180 turns, muddy parts, then harder (frozen?) ground, plus the undulating nature all contributed. All that is probably good when you're in tip-top shape though, it just murdered my legs today, lol. My lungs were fine. I had the cough after the race but I'm fine now. |

We would have stayed to watch the men but it was so cold we just sat in the car with the heaters on after WD and then went home via the pub in Stourbridge to hear the tales of woe from the D3 men's race at Droitwich (sounded really really bad mud) Despite a long WU the first few races in really cold air always seem to do that to me. Coughing gets better once I'm in the warm. |
