Just come across this thread and found Ndellar talking about my xc race. Agree about the course, I loved it! Think we finished within a couple of places of each other too. That last downhill was great.

Hahaha! I don't think I was close enough to see much of you, but hopefully I'll be on your heels soon
I will probably go to the Birmingham League XC AGM with our club captain, I will definitely push for the ladies to Sandwell again. Much better than the endless football pitch courses we sometimes get.
Will you be at Cheltenham? I missed that fixture last year and not run that course before. No idea what it's like....

I'm sure you were, I crawled up every hill but my last mile was somehow my fastest.
Yes, will be at Cheltenham although what a trek! I really enjoyed it last year, it was generally pretty flat as far as I remember and there was a bit of stream but nothing like Leamington! Maybe I will see you there

Wiltshire schools champs has been postponed for 26/01/13 (Southerns) therefore I can't do it as Southern's take priority this year! So I am rather annoyed - but I will probably do parkrun this weekend and go for a time.
Any other races postponed / cancelled this weekend?

I'm looking at a parkrun this weekend too Callum, but it may well be off by the looks of the forecast (no point me going down if icy to be honest).
Southerns is looking like it could well be frozen ground. What do peeps do shoe wise in that situation?

oi you
If the ground really is frozen solid I'd just use a shorter spike - 9mm or even 6mm. It might be a nice idea to have a choice of shoe, but it's all extra stuff to carry. I do wonder if it will be frozen that hard though - it is in the middle of London, and that's always a little warmer than elsewhere. I think it was 2010 it was bitterly cold and the course was still soft.

I'd go for a shorter spike - but if the ground is frozen then would probably be cautious and wear xc shoes..
