That's a good session Runa - I've got the same aim, helping the OH to a sub 1hr in November! She looks like she could be quick, but I reckon she bounces up and down too much = wasted energy? Lovely long-sh run on Sunday - Ridgeway nr. Wendover to Ivinghoe Beacon and back - nice steep little hills. Have now run the whole route and have serious doubts about the sanity of those of us/you doing it in one go.

Good running by everyone i see, good stuff. Cut back weekend for me this weekend with a 14 miler planned for Saturday. The following 3 weeks consist of a 20, 22 and a 10 mile race i plan to run at MP. Only a 1 week taper for me, do or die shit! That will be six 20+ LSRs, hoping its enough to PB Berlin but as shin is still shit i haven't done bugger all intense speed stuff so relying heavily on my endurance. I hope its enough! |

I wouldn't worry about no speedwork Peacey. 6 20milers is good going. I'm just trudging along at the moment... work is an absolute bitch now so extremely glad I didn't sign up for autumn marathon. My next aim is the glasgow half but have a calf problem at present and not sure whether this will rob me of any chance of a PB! Its blowing an absolute gale outside and trying to decide what route to take pre-night shift run just now... |

Good to have you back RFJ, ready for a new HRRL season. Good training session tonight; 12.4M including a 30min tempo (6:30mm) done in 1:31:41. Splits as follows: 8:01 7:55 8:00 8:00 7:39 6:38 6:20 6:31 6:39 7:50 7:33 7:42 2:54. Best of all was my HR avg stayed down at 144 which is a huge improvement on where it was 6 months ago. Rest day tomorrow including a sports injury massage should help recover form this weeks exertions. ![]() |

I have been taking a long while to recover from blackpool 2009 but am now finding 7.2x pace sufficiently comfortable up to 10-12 miles (about 140-143bpm) that I believe that a sub 3.15 will be possible in a follow up marathon in 2010. I have 100% cured the sore knee by improving my running technique since April (I felt at the time that I may not be able to attempt another one because of this). I want to change my approach in two areas - to use adizero rc racing flats with noene inserts for shock protection and to work off a 3 times a week running schedule. This may reduce the level of tiredness I felt at the start at Blackpool as I think I ran far too many training miles to get sub 3.30. marathon-training-program.com I have loads of time to keep myself ticking over before I start the program so any comments from others who have taken this approach would be useful. |

Runa.... erm NO... the 1st one at Overton, I have the small matter of driving 420m to get to it and hopefully on time.... will be leaving Glasgow at about 7ish on the Sat morning.... Enforced rest day today as car had to go to garage on way to work (unplanned) so threw out all my plans CR - its all about pace managment I I use Team Oregon website for pace bands, that seem slow but work, I have done the 3 runs a week with FIRST and got through a mara but not well, I now do 6 runs a week and smashed my pb by 20 mins (after trying to beat 3:30 for 8 attempts and failing, got the training right (with a coach) and 3:13... was down to pace and weight loss, slower runs slow, mid distance at steady pace and tempo / TT runs at a faster pace. |

Some nice long runs and some nice faster runs by the looks of things. It is all about getting the pace right. Peacey, just watch you don't overdo it. CR, good luck with the training. Quality instead of Quantity ![]() RFJ, pity about the car. Just over a week to my next marathon and having though about it I will be pushing for a sub 3:15, this after planning it to be a training run to get the miles in. I'll just have to wait and see. Enjoy your runs/races over the weekend |
