Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

How was your run today?

Arthur - I started by entering a 10km, so I had to train or I'd be embarrassed (lots of my friends were doing the same one, and had done it before). The next year, just before the same race I started running with a friend, which made it actually enjoyable.

After that, because I was enjoying it I was going out more, then the times improved which made it even more enjoyable. And suddenly, without even realising it, you're in a virtuous cycle and you're entering 16 races a year :)

And now, 3 years after doing the 2008 Great Manchester Run at 16 stone 6, in 70 mins 11 seconds I'm on the brink of going sub-50 in the City of Manchester 10km (different race despite the name), at 13 stone 7. When you start seeing progress (in terms of times, fitness weight, whatever you're choosing to measure), it really does start to become addictive.

Rain stayed away but wind was strong on the seafront. 7 miles in just under an hour was way faster than I planned(this was yesterday)
Today I am attempting 10 miles, just need to decide where.

Just back from the Leeds 10K, where I set a PB for the course AND matched my 10K PB. Given that my 10K PB was only set last month, on a totally FLAT race, and given that Leeds is quite a hilly course, I was well chuffed. :-)

Congested. There was a family cycling event going on along my route. The weather was good for a change though.

All great training for your marathon LJ. If you can handle the weather in training, you'll be a lot better prepared.
