Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Friday 6th June TDT, I was taking compass bearings for the ordinance survey by an army training CP on Salisbury plain. I had packed up my theodolite ,was calling it a day when a voice was heard to sing a sad refrain.

Hope you're having a restful day Hazel! You'll likely be finished before I start at 9am tomorrow.

I'm not racing as such, it's a run or walk eventually and I'm not sure how it'll be after a night of cold camping and I don't want to fall again or get lost on the new course....I knew the old one!

Have also just entered another event in 3 weeks, it's a LDWA event ,36 miles across the narrowest bit of north Scotland from Ullapool to Ardgay, new this year. I discovered pre COVID that I can't navigate and run at the same time so will mainly be walking .
I had an ignominious dnf in 2019 in one of their 50m events mainly because I'd discovered that I couldn't run and navigate at the same time and a long stretch in the dark through woods was ahead. There were only about 15 folk entered so couldn't really stick with anyone else so dropped out at a point where I could get a bus back to base. Kicked myself afterwards but then there was an incident a few weeks after where 3 elderly folk were attacked in same woods. Sadly 2 of them died.
Much calmer rest of morning it's a slow but scenic train trip to Inverness.

Have a great run, @HazelnutCH 🌻 Thanks for your good wishes, and also @alehouse and @Night-owl :)

Today I'm on a long car journey and might have a rare zero-training day. I'll run tomorrow.
