@alehouse hope the appointment goes well - and you have dried out for it!

I finally saw the doc this morning and he is going to look at the thyroid meds increase - particularly when I showed him the Garmin printout from my parkrun pre birthday and a more recent one - the differences across all metrics were stark!

Hope the doc can sort you out @Torque Steer. Appointment went well, thanks. Short run on the way back in glorious sunshine, albeit windy. Only downside was the state of the pavements. Safer on my trails, not wishing to tempt fate!

Good wishes with the various doctors' and hospital appointments @Welshpoppy @alehouse @Torque Steer Enjoying reading of some super exploits, running and racing. My hopes of Parkrunning today were sabotaged with other stuff getting in the way but did the 7 am trot instead. Big festival to deal with tomorrow and then fingers crossed a 'normal' week ahead.

Next week's goal is do another 6 + mile run one of the days and keep the miles edging up on a daily basis. Hopefully parkrun next weekend!

Good news on the cars is my rickety old van passed its MOT yesterday and the one the big tree dropped a giant set of branches on is fully restored and back in action.

And the sun is shining!

Good 4 mile effort on Friday @Torque Steer. Fingers crossed Dr sorts out the thyroid meds and it helps.
A good news re your eyes @Welshpoppy.

Nice mix of runs @alehouse, including the parkrun for a change of pace.
Sounds like you will still be laying down some decent miles @Clink, despite missing the first parkrun.

Timekeeping at parkrun yesterday as I had XC in the afternoon (Auckland XC Teams Championships, about 8.3 km as 4x 2 km laps).

Yes the XC went well enough for me, with a time of 42:33: First out of a whole two M75-79, albeit by a reasonably solid margin (even 1st/4 M70+, including an 86 year old!). At least this time the other M75 was (perhaps as in used to be?) a very good runner, and the one I have seen as my main competition. In this instance though I crossed the line more than a lap in front of him.

But it didn't actually count for anything (other than one team point for me crossing the finish line, which would have been the same if I'd come in last). It was strictly a teams event; in the veteran mens category, only the first seven M35+ counted for teams points and I was 8th for our club (4 sec behind 7th!). Ironically the other three M70+ did count as they were 5th - 7th finishers for their club. Not surprising there were so few older runners, given the oldest age category for team points was veterans (35+)!

Pleasant sunny winter weather but a horrible course. About 80% of the distance was run through cow paddocks that are part of a regional park. Ground was firm and potmarked with hoof indentations etc. To add to the excitement, long grass in the running strip had been cut a week or so ago and was lying as straw obscuring the indentations. Our feet rolled and twisted every step of the way through the cow paddocks 😬. Constantly wary of the risk of a twisted ankle but fortunately everyone I am aware of avoided that fate. But by the evening my legs were feeling very battered.

Thankfully the legs recovered enough by this morning to join the Sunday long run (16km, EG 137m). Again pace pushed by 'youngsters' (as in an M59 😁)! A bit variable (hills and an unpaused stop) but mostly in the 5:30 - 5:45/km range. Followed up by a couple of hours loading a large trailor with tree prunings from MIL's house. A bit shattered by mid afternoon > an hour or so nana nap!

@alehouse did you get a shiny momento after parkrun? Good pace and time for a non- pushed outing
I came across the end of the junior parkrun this morning and all the kids had a "gold" medal on a ribbon around their necks - perhaps to commemorate the one millionth parkrun having taken place this weekend soemwhere?

We sound like a procession on sick parade reporting in on various ailments :-)

@Clink what sort of festival were you involved in to keep you away from parkrun?

@NZD that's a pretty shabby age grouping although unfortunately not all that uncommon.
Ground sounded nasty, wise to be cautious, a rolled ankle can put one out for several weeks
Well backed up with your long run this morning - glad the youngster(s ) are keeping you on your toes
Excellent week all round

I nearly matched NZD's endeavors - well 4.58 miles done in 53.43 (11:43m/m) and Hr 121/138 - which left me tired. Unfortunately the garden fairies were in short supply as I double cut all the lawns, pruned the ornamental cherry trees and had three trips to the tip to get rid of debris and I am officially tired!

Wordle in three yesterday and today - about the only streak I am on!

@MickC where are you - I thought you would be on about Canada's exploits in teh World Cup

Yes, was wondering about @Mick6 and also @Solo.

Post parkrun was a free cup of tea and a croissant at the nearby church...and Garmin taking another point off my VO2.

Just over 5k this morning.

Oh no special treats for us on Saturday, not even for the volunteers.
Good run @Torque Steer, and put me to shame on the gardening side. And not even a nana nap?

Post-weekend recovery 10.1km this morning (6:06, HR 113/123). Legs still grumpy after the weekend activities - no intention of going any faster!
