Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

*UPDATE* So wet, so slippy. Beat the train, but only just.
Should PB this one without too much difficulty - I am a lot fitter and better prepared this year than last!!!! Also the weather can not possibly be worse than last year! UPDATE: Conditions were horrendous again - even worse than last year. Despite this, I managed to PB and beat the train (just) - it was tooting as I crossed the line!!! I am knackered!
Running Caz
What a FANTASTIC event. Thoroughly enjoyed every second of the run despite feeling sick with nerves about the distance all morning. Took it at a nice easy pace and enjoyed the variety of terrain. The ploughed field was hard in the first half and you seem to run at uncomfortable angles after the 5M mark. Wore road shoes so know I could have faired better with some decent trail shoes. Second half was great, mud, sliding everywhere, steep hills and running at a 45 degree angle :-) Didn't beat train ;-) BUT ran whole distance without any problem and felt great in the last few miles where I passed loads of people once on the lanes and had fantastic sprint finish :-) Felt although I deserved a better time but am sure I would have been at least 5mins faster with good footwear. LOVED IT!!
Mr Phil
going sub 2-30 this year! managed 2-36 last year after being injured since november and only 2 runs of more than 5 miles

Went well in my Swoops (happy with that choice)
Felt less kippered than last year.
V hard, wet and soggy but great fun
Two Towels.
Tough course although the first 6.5 to 7 miles were not to bad, until you reached the farmers ploughed field, then it got tough, and hilly, most hills on uneven canvers!

Very wet & muddy, could have done with wearing Walshes, trail shoes did NOT have enough grip!

Cracking race.
Mud, mud, mud and hills, hills, hills. Was a bit worried about being able to complete this because of the mud, hills and complete lack of training and given that am quite pleased with the result as I was bracing myself for potentially up to 3 hours! Could have done 2:15 if I hadn't absolutely crashed with 4 miles to go.
Matt the Brum
10th/688. Tired legs from the 10k in the morning but enjoyed the race. We also won the team prize.
Jeeeezus...............!! What else is there to say!! 14.75 miles of fields, hills, waterfalls, steps and not forgetting the "specifically for the occasion" ploughed field. Probably the toughest thing I've done in a long long time. Had no illusions of beating the train, and was running on will power alone from about 11 miles, but worth ther effort!
tough from about 7 miles out, farmers ploughed field. Overall great race and great family day out as kids and wife managed to get on the train. Glad i just managed to beat the train, or i'd have to doit all again next year
trained very hard for this race but was suffering with shin splints, so very painful 15 miles, the train had not long got back as i struggled into the town. next year !!!!!!!
