I am considering because I can stay at my sister's. That makes it cheaper than almost any of other mara for me.

My concern is it'll be dull and the seafront is a seriously hard concrete surface. I've done the half and that's pretty monotonous.

Been a while since I've posted. Looks like everyone's cranking up the mileage or in Luna's case putting in the speed sessions.

SW - Paris is a great marathon, I've done it twice and it is very well organised. Get into a hotel close to the start/finish and you'll have a fab time. Don't forget that you'll need a medical certificate from your GP.

My training is a bit patchy at the moment. Last week I had 2 hilly races and a 21 mile LSR at the end which was pretty tough after a hard week. Off to the Lake Distict next week so looking forward to lower mileage but more hills! Then I'm back just in time for the Test Match at The Oval.

I've not been on for a while either. Had a low mileage July owing to holiday and just starting to get back into training again. Probably won't do another marathon until next Spring now, will concentrate on some hiily runs and cross country in the meantime. I have actually entered Brighton 2010 though as a back up in case I don't get into London.

There's a Brighton deal on isn't there for London rejects. You're right KB. I always forget to factor in the cost of travel, maybe I should consider this one after all. It IS a bit dull, but I've always enjoyed the 1/2, there is a lovely wee hill in it and my OH will be running her first ever Half next year.

Welcome back Baz, BR and Jezzer!

I'm certainly consdiering it, Luna. I need to do a marathon that is cheap and doesn't pile on the pressure of bought flights, booked hotels and all that.

14 miles cracked tonight. Ran to my club (3.25M) and then took part in my groups speedwork session (800, 1200, 3000, 1600 fast with at least 800m jog between each one). By the end of that I was pretty knackered as I had been trying to hold on to 6:00mm for the 3000 and 1600 intervals. The 3.25 mile home were a killer but I took them easy enough, including the damned hill that I live on top of . Overall 1:46:00 for the 14 miles is pretty satisfying; now I am going to crash out in front of the TV.

Good going Runa - I might try one of those next week. 6 x 800m for me with 90s RI, first time to do 800 on a track. Faded quite severely in the still hot sun, from the suggested 2:46 down to 2:59 by the end of the session. A pint of Old Peculiar afterwards helped the recovery ;-)

Good on yer Luna - 2:59 is still pretty swift running especially in the sun.

Experts, do you think it's possible to go 3:15 first time out? I'm planning Brighton / London as my 1st crack and coming off a 1:27 HM PB earlier this year. Any tips very welcome. For instance, is there such a thing as starting to up the long runs too early?
