Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes, but I think (well at least in the Midlands) you have to complete the (in my case) Midlands x-country champs to qualify.

Thanks guys. Just wondered because I'd read before to "leave the spikes to the fast 20 year olds up front" (like Blister!).

Thanks Gobi, waffles it is then - what about spike length or do you just buy a box of assorted sizes?

You need assorted length spikes, Kieren and you change them according to the muddiness and terrain. 6mm or 9mm are the standard lengths and suffice for most course, although one course I ran last year needed 15mm...!

*thinks* I may be a young 21 year old but I'm not fast or at the front (by far)!

be careful with 12s and 15s though as if there is any hard ground they will bend. Checking with a few people and I have discovered 9s are popular in the midfoot with 12s at the front for climbs
