I had to look at my watch to confirm I was on the second lap as it all looked the same.
Sounds like things were bad for getting in for women's race. We were aiming to get there for that race but on the way there 30 mins was added to ETA and we were diverted by sta nav off the motorway. Apparently there had been an accident.
Yeah, heard about that as well. We got in very quickly at 14:15 which was a relief but looks like we were sent to a different spot from those that arrived earlier.
I used a bit of local knowledge and when I hit the queue diverted off and ended up in a massive free car park just 1 mile from the tents so I had no delays at all. So I saved £5, avoided the queue and had a good distance for a warm up.

Course was less strong than I'd have liked, but as I said to SPR I've been there with my son when it was an absolute bog for the Cheshire champs so half the problem was simply that its been dry recently. I suppose that's the joy of XC, no two courses are the same.
We had our final race of the season yesterday with (considering the recent rain and snow melt) pretty dry conditions underfoot. I ran much better on the second lap (though everything is relative ), which underlined for me the fact that I never warm up properly before racing! Next season I'm going to try to rectify this ... just got to get my head around the fact that I won't wear myself out by warming up well and that I'll feel the benefit during the race. We shall see
