I do enjoy beating some of the Uni youngsters! For some reason my expectation of Uni XC teams is that they'd be full of sub-18 5k runners, but as my son attests (up in Newcastle) the range of abilities is broad, with some super-speedsters as well as those who just simply enjoy it - and that's great to see!
BUCS was a loooong way away for my son - 9 hours in a coach and two overnights from Ncl to Exeter!!

They are a real mixture, that team, 1 is an 800m specialist, 1 has basically never run anything else except XC and 2 never run before uni, and have done all sorts of stuff since, which is quite something. I reckon it shows what you can do with someone younger, but I also think what we could all achieve if you put the time in.
BUCS is ace, keep this a secret, but there is a story doing the rounds that BUCS will be at Heaton Park next year, shush now!

OOOOH!!! That'd be ace!! I'll tell no-one. Have they found a decent pond to make them splash through?

I thought BUCS cycled around the four home nations a bit more than that though?

I'm not sure, I think it is such an undertaking that they're pleased if anyone takes it up!

^ well done Larkim & also WS's team.
Heaton Park has the boating lake ready for BUCS dippers!
I think my club finished 2nd in Div 2 Sen Men, also 2nd in Div 2 Vet Men so we will have our work cut out in Div 1 next year.
17th in v40 here, about par but last race I was slowed by lace coming undone twice, despite usual locking knot.
National next, should be fun.

I should do the National really, but being the only runner for our club and a committed mid-pack runner I can't quite justify the drive over to Leeds. Despite having made a habit of doing exactly that when I was ferrying around my son!

Chrisity – do you any course info ahead of the East Mids race at West Park on Sunday? I’m thinking of running there from Ruddington which is a nice 14 miles along the Trent/Erewash, and was wondering if I could get away with road shoes.
Obviously if the race was still on your course at Trent Meadows I'd be packing my flippers but I’ve done the Vets relays at West Park before, and apart from a short section through the nature reserve it was very runnable and if this course is similar I should be fine to tiptoe round
